I was nine and my parents had gone out to the local pub and left my older brother and sister in charge of me. They were in their mid teens and were avid viewers of Mystery and imagination. I was playing up and wouldn't go to bed so they let me stay up and watch lost hearts. I was terrified from start to finish and when my parents arrived home I was in bits! For years after I would run past the bathroom and would only have a bath if someone stayed with me. I would put lights on all over the house as I went from room to room.To this day my brother and sister tease me about it and I still get a shiver down my spine when I see the actor who played Mr Abney. one thing puzzles me though: Why in my memory do I recall him being called Nickerdemus Boffin? It's hard to say which scared me the most. Lost hearts or the exorcist. But I think Lost hearts because it was in my own home I saw it.
