It’s a great time to love vintage TV. Not only can you stream almost every show, but a lot of the great shows are back with their original casts. Fuller House sort of started the ball rolling with other ‘80s and ‘90s TV sitcoms looking for a revival.

While fans of any show would consider their revival the best, Showbiz Cheat Sheet tried to take a more objective view. Here are the five best sitcom revivals, with an honorable mention for Night Court because it only has one original cast member but still follows the format successfully.

When the sad news of Burt Bacharach’s death came down Thursday morning, your first memories of the songwriting genius likely depended on your age. If you grew up in the Sixties, you probably remember the hits he wrote with Hal David for artists like Gene Pitney, Dionne Warwick, and B.J. Thomas. Children of the Eighties are likely more familiar with Christoper Cross’ “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do),” Neil Diamond’s “Heartlight,” and the Dionne Warwick charity single “That’s What Friends Are For.”

Once upon a time, most of television was like Poker Face, the new Peacock drama created by Glass Onion’s Rian Johnson and starring Russian Doll’s Natasha Lyonne. It is a purely episodic, case-of-the-week show. Each episode sets up its own specific story, which Lyonne’s Charlie Cale finds a way to conclude by the end of the hour. There are some extremely loose ongoing threads, but you could in theory watch every episode but the first in any order and get the same enjoyment out of each. It...

Selina Scott has claimed that she experienced sexual harassment while working as a presenter on BBC Breakfast in the Eighties.
Scott, who was one of the first co-hosts of BBC Breakfast Time in 1983, explained why she declined to be a guest on the BBC Breakfast show this week as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
She said it would be “dishonest” to appear on the show following her experiences on the show, which she claimed included being forced to deal with being kissed by co-presenter Frank Bough.
Scott also spoke about feeling forced to kiss Jimmy Savile when he appeared on the show as a guest, and said she felt women were placed on air for “decoration”.
The presenter told Daily Mail on Friday (20 January) that she was warned about the “snake-pit atmosphere” of the broadcasting house before she began her role.

That ’90s Show has dropped on Netflix, but while stars ofThat ’70s Show such as Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher make an appearance, viewers won’t be hearing from Danny Masterson.
The 46-year-old actor appeared in court in November, charged with allegedly raping three women, including a former girlfriend, at his home between 2001 and 2003.
In December, the case ended in mistrial after the jury were deadlocked and unable to reach a verdict. Last week, prosecutors said that they would retry Masterson on all three counts.
At the time of the alleged assaults, Masterson was starring in That ’70s Show as Steven Hyde, a rebellious high school student and the best friend of series lead Eric (Grace).
On Thursday (19 January), spin-off series That ‘90s Show arrived on Netflix. You can read The Independent’s three-star review here.

Let me save you some time: If you’re old enough to actually remember the ’90s, then That ’90s Show probably isn’t for you. Netflix is trying to recapture the retro magic of That ’70s Show with an all-new reboot — they’re calling it a “sequel series,” but really, it’s a reboot — with suburban parents Red and Kitty Forman enduring a new generation of unruly teens. But That ’90s Show (debuting today; I’ve seen the first three episodes) is an uninspired buzzkill: half tired nostalgia tour and half mediocre retread.

Lewis Capaldi is trying not to choke to death on confetti. One song into the first night of a gargantuan world tour and the confetti cannons have gone off, showering the audience at Leeds arena in small strips of white paper. “Cause I’m not ready,” he splutters, “to find out you know how to forget me.” It’s not the most dignified start but, then, Capaldi never did seem too concerned about that.
Capaldi is the UK music industry’s golden boy. A blend of charisma, candour and a vocal range similar to that of Adele led to a handful of Brit Awards, a Grammy nomination and sold-out arena tours. He shrugs off critics or else comes back at them with impish glee. After Noel Gallagher described his music as “wank”, Capaldi walked onto the Other Stage at Glastonbury wearing a parka and a T-shirt with the Oasis star...

The Color of Money is a movie of 1986 directed by Martin Scorsese. It is a continuation of The Hustler (1961), by Robert Rossen. Starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise.
When Mr. Scorsese was not as acclaimed (yet), he did this movie which was a bit of a “filler”, which has become one of the reference movies about American pool.
Story line of The Color of Money The Color of Money (1986)
Eddie Felson, an old pool player, reappears as a whiskey merchant when he meets Vince, an outstanding pool player. Together they embark on a father-son type of voyage of discovery.
The Movie. Review
This is not Scorsese´s best movie, it is not even a somewhat personal movie, it is just another movie in his filmography that rests on some video-clip moments (cool music and lots of changes of shots in a very “Eighties” style). The movie resorts to all sorts of commercial formulas,...

The original Point Place gang are reuniting for Netflix's "That '90s Show," a sequel to the hit comedy "That '70s Show." The streamer finally shared the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series on Nov. 29, taking us right back to our favorite basement in Wisconsin with "That '70s Show" originals Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) and Red Forman (Kurtwood Smith). While the clip introduces some new faces, the show clearly aims to restore that old nostalgic feeling viewers fell in love with in the late '90s.
Netflix has confirmed guest appearances from "That '70s Show"'s Topher Grace (Eric), Laura Prepon (Donna), Mila Kunis (Jackie), Ashton Kutcher (Kelso), and Wilmer Valderrama (Fez) during season one of the upcoming Netflix sitcom - and they all appear in the official trailer, which premiered on Dec. 22.. In a clip released on Jan. 6, we also see the return of Don Stark as Bob Pinciotti.

In the event you've missed hanging out down the street, while doing the same old things you did last week, then Netflix has you covered with "That '90s Show," a sequel show to the hit sitcom "That '70s Show," which itself premiered in the '90s. Seeing as "Fuller House" was a hit for the streaming giant, it makes sense that it would want to try its hand at reviving another beloved series. But where "Fuller House" made sure to bring in all of the original cast members in lead roles, "That '90s Show" takes a bit of a different approach.
Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, and Wilmer Valderama are featured in the show, but largely as guest appearances. You won't be seeing Danny Masterson, however, as he's currently on trial for multiple counts of rape. "That '90s Show" will instead feature Callie Haverda as Leia, the daughter of Eric and Donna,...

Chicago is one of the great musical powerhouses of America. Since the Twenties, its Black population has produced colossal talents, such as classical composer Florence Price and soul singer Curtis Mayfield, not to mention any number of jazz pioneers, from Sun Ra to Quincy Jones to Herbie Hancock. Less well known to the mainstream than some of the above, saxophonist Henry Threadgill has a place in this pantheon, having crowned an eventful 50-year career with the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in 2016.
When asked about his hometown, the 79-year-old Threadgill has an interesting historical point to make. “They used to describe it as being as far down south as you can go up north!”, Threadgill says on a clear transatlantic phone line. “That’s what the definition is because the majority of the population is from Mississippi. You gotta remember that it’s a Southern city, basically.” Although he has lived in...

The “Bff Quiz” was a staple of the Eighties teen girl magazine. Back then, the media treated young women with open contempt. Female friendship was deemed too fickle and too poisonous to be determined by feelings – no, the only way to know if your bestie was really your bestie was to have them answer 12 hypothetical questions. Would they tell you if your new Esprit skirt was actually hideous? Would they get jealous if you started dating one of the popular boys? Sitcom revivals are a dime a dozen these days, but until news broke about Netflix's "That '90s Show," a "That '70s Show" redux has never seemed likely. For one thing, the show already tried as much way back in 2002, with a poorly received spin-off called "That '80s Show". For another, the show had a beautiful send-off after eight seasons, reuniting Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon) and ending with the Point Place gang ushering in a new year and a new decade.

Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s defining series. But as the Eighties horror pastiche returns this week after a nearly three-year absence, the show and the streamer seem to be going in opposite directions. Netflix is contracting; Stranger Things is expanding.
It’s been a rough spring for Netflix. Subscriber growth has slowed, and actual subscriber losses are predicted later this year, which sent the streaming giant’s stock price stumbling. Employees have been laid off, and there’s a plan for a cheaper ad-supported subscription tier later this year to staunch the bleeding.

Not to complain about what is largely a fun job, but writing about what Ncuti Gatwa is going to wear as the new Doctor is really hard. Have you seen the guy? Every single photo I’ve seen of him since his casting was announced looks like a potential Doctor costume. Every single one.
Does the New Doctor Need an Unchanging Costume?
First question: do we really need a capital C Costume? And if we do, is it going to be near-permanent? There’s a difference between something obviously designed and never changed out of, and a consistent look. Compare the Eighties Doctors, who wore largely the same clothes in every story and whose costume was clearly designed to be The Doctor’s Costume.
When you have a situation where everyone wears the same clothes for a prolonged period of time it’s as much a sign of artifice as...

One week ahead of the highly anticipated return of Stranger Things, Netflix has dropped the first 8 minutes of the premiere episode for the fourth season of Stranger Things, which returns as a split season. The first seven of the nine episodes, Volume 1, launches May 27; the last two episodes drop on July 1 as Volume 2.
In the long teaser clip, it looks to be a normal day in Hawkins, Indiana: a paperboy slings the news onto porches and Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) times himself on a crossword puzzle before getting ready for work at Hawkins National Laboratories.

A review of the Atlanta Season Three finale, “Tarrare,” coming up just as soon as I ask my friend’s cousin to pee on you…
And here we come to the end of this long-delayed, ambitious, confounding, frequently incredible season of television. Across the last two and a half months, Atlanta has given us four different anthology episodes exploring Black life in America (your mileage will vary on whether this was too many, the perfect amount, or not enough), a locked room mystery, an introspective drug trip with a bonus Liam Neeson cameo,...

When a franchise has been around as long as Star Trek, it’s not hard to understand a desire to reinvent the wheel — or, I suppose, the warp core. Lean too much on what Trek has been doing since the Sixties and you risk your futuristic space opera feeling old, stodgy, and high on its own supply. But the more recent series like Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard have tried much too hard to fit Trek into the Peak TV landscape, in the process losing sight of what...

That '90s Show will have some blasts from the past.
The Netflix sequel of That '70s Show has locked in Topher Grace as Eric Forman, Mila Kunis as Jackie Burkhart, Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso, Laura Prepon as Donna Pinciotti, and Wilmer Valderrama as Fez.
The streaming service broke the news Saturday, while also confirming the returns will be "special guest appearances," which likely means they will be back for one or two episodes.
Netflix also dropped a first-look photo of returning series regulars Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty) and Kurtwood Smith (Red), confirming that the highly-anticipated update is in production.
Valderrama previously addressed a possible return in an interview with TV Insider.
“I’m a little busy right now, but I support them so much,” said Valderrama, who starred in all eight seasons of the original series on Fox.
“I’m rooting for them. I wish them nothing but the best.

They join ‘That ’70s Show alums Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp who are series regulars and executive producers on That ’90s Show.

Wilmer Valderrama is not ruling out a return to the That '70s show universe.
In a new interview with TV Insider, the actor chatted about the forthcoming Netflix series That '90s Show.
“I’m a little busy right now, but I support them so much,” said Valderrama, who starred on all eight season of the original series on Fox.

Indeed, Valderrama is keeping busy.
He currently holds a series regular role on NCIS as Nick Torres, and is also working on a Zorro reboot for ABC.
That '70s Show was a huge hit for Fox, also starring Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, and Laura Prepon.

Four years since we last heard from them, South Korean superstars Big Bang are back with a new song, “Still Life.”
Big Bang originally made their debut in 2006 and rose to the top of Korean music charts shortly after, making them one of the country’s best-selling boy bands at the time. They were regularly awarded Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year honors at major Asian music award shows, and by the early 2010s their success had crossed over to the U.S.

“I feel heavy,” Chris Carraba sings on “Burning Heart,” the first song on All the Truth That I Can Tell, the first new Dashboard Confessional album in four years. We’re right there with you, man.
For most of the 21st century, Carraba, the artist concurrently known as Dashboard Confessional, pretty well embodied the idea of “emo.” Older punks might take issue with this, but for fans perhaps not even alive in ‘85, Dashboard’s deadly earnest version of that amorphous genre tag has meant everything from college-cafe acoustic tunes (emo as shout-along folk,...

How could you forget That ’70s Show? Sure, the final season sucked, but prior to the departures of several important cast members, it was a joy spending time with goofy Eric Foreman, his girlfriend Donna, the superficial and self-centered Jackie, the foreigner Fez, the not-so-smart Kelso, and the laidback Hyde. It was a classic series that defined a dream reality of the 70s but captured the hearts of millions because of the great cast and being genuinely funny for the most part. The series was successful for a period of time, and it spawned a spin-off, That ’80s Show. Now,

Netflix has assembled the young series regular cast of That ’90s Show, a follow-up to hit sitcom That ’70s Show.
The new group of six teenage friends in Point Place, Wisconsin is led by Leia Forman, daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon) from the original series. Callie Haverda (Shut Eye) is set to play Leia, with Ashley Aufderheide (Emergence), Mace Coronel (Colin in Black & White), Maxwell Acee Donovan (Gabby Duran & The Unsittables), Reyn Doi (Side Hustle) and Sam Morelos cast as new teen characters opposite fellow series regulars Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp who are reprising their That ’70s Show roles as Red Forman and Kitty Forman, respectively.
I hear other That ’70s Show cast members, including Grace, Prepon, Mila Kunis, and Ashton Kutcher, are in negotiations to recur in the spinoff, which has a 10-episode order.

Angel Olsen has released a cover of Billy Idol’s 1984 ballad “Eyes Without a Face.”
Produced with Adam McDaniel, the cover takes a straightforward approach to the song, placing Olsen’s filtered voice against synths and bright guitar. “Eyes without a face, eyes without a face/Got no human grace, your eyes without a face,” she sings.
The song will be featured on Olsen’s upcoming Aisles EP, out this Friday, August 20th. The project sees her departing from her usual folk and country-influenced songwriting in favor of Eighties covers.

In the Nineties, mainstream hip-hop started to move away from building tracks on obscure samples, choosing instead to craft songs around loops of well-known refrains and bass-lines from earlier eras. P. Diddy and his crew of producers — a group known as the...

I don’t envy the job of anyone tasked with taking a classic Eighties comedy — Coming to America, say — and making a decades-later sequel that tries to please its guaranteed audience.
