Prime Video adult animated series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy features not just one Culkin — with Kieran Culkin voicing one of the main characters — but all five brothers working together for the first time, and it turns out Natasha Lyonne helped make it all happen.
Lyonne, who executive produced and co-stars in the show, has been longtime friends with both Kieran and Macaulay Culkin, “so Kieran came up for the role of Dr. Plowp and in a crazy turn of events, the bird alien [character that he plays] had four brothers [in the script] before he was cast. So he had the four brothers already and when we cast Kieran we were like, ‘You have four brothers! That’s ridiculous, what fate,'” showrunner Cirocco Dunlap told The Hollywood Reporter at the Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday. “Kieran was the one who suggested it, he was like, ‘We could get my brothers’ and I was like,...

On Friday, Macaulay Culkin received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and had a reunion with Catherine O’Hara, who played his mom in the Home Alone movies.
She delivered a speech at the podium while standing next to the star.
“Home Alone was, is and always will be, a beloved global sensation … the reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin,” she told the audience.
The Canadian-American actress told Culkin that his performance in the 1990 film was perfect.
“I know you worked really hard, I know you did, but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do,” she said to him.
O’Hara went on to compliment Culkin for his charming and sadistic sense of humor that he had since childhood.

Look what you did, you little jerk! Macaulay Culkin finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last Friday, being recognized for his landmark work as a child actor and beyond.
Special guests at the ceremony — in which Macaulay Culkin was bestowed the 2,765th star on the Walk of Fame — included Home Alone mom Catherine O’Hara and Natasha Lyonne, a former child star herself who co-starred in 2003’s Party Mondter. At the event, O’Hara gave a touching tribute to the star, who she first worked with when he was just 10. “I know you worked really hard, I know you did, but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do…Macaulay, congratulations. You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And thank you for including me, your fake mom who left you home alone not once but twice, to share in this happy occasion.

There are “child stars,” and then there are performers that start working during childhood only to become bona fide, beloved screen icons, enjoying long, varied careers throughout their lives. Following in the footsteps of Shirley Temple, Natalie Wood and Mickey Rooney, Macaulay Culkin has — for three decades and counting — been a contemporary standard bearer for that personal and professional journey.
Culkin became a full-fledged cultural phenomenon after the explosive commercial success of his fifth film, 1990’s “Home Alone,” which he made when he was just 10 years old. The film grossed $476 million worldwide, due in direct part to his mischievous-yet-vulnerable performance as Kevin McAllister. But beginning in his teenage years, Culkin began seeking projects that piqued his artistic interests rather than sustaining his immediate and colossal celebrity. Even without any expectation for those subsequent efforts to reach the same stratospheric heights as his early breakthrough, Culkin’s star wattage has barely flickered,...

Long before RuPaul’s Drag Race made Emmy history by getting men in glitzy dresses, colorful wigs and fierce heels to compete to become America’s Next Drag Superstar, World of Wonder founders and maverick filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato made bold, personal movies that broke through media representation barriers to queer representation and reshaped how America looks at its LGBTQ community.

“Churning butter!” Grant Vanderbilt yells in a video posted on Instagram back in 2018. It’s not actual butter: Marko Monroe is “churning” the contents of a trash can on Hollywood Boulevard with a palm frond as people mill around. “Making trash butter!” Vanderbilt continues. “Who wants a cocktail?!” adds Marko, attempting to sell the product.

It took three years for music to return to Indio’s Empire Polo Club. But Covid seemed to be an afterthought this past weekend as fans flocked to each Coachella stage, mostly unmasked. Overall, the fest’s 2022 edition served as an exciting three-day celebration of live music’s resurgence, with Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Swedish House Mafia alongside the Weeknd topping the bill. (Kanye West’s last-minute drop-off went seemingly unnoticed.)
History was made throughout the weekend, as Eilish became the youngest headliner in history, and Pabllo Vittar the first drag queen to perform.

From every group reality show comes a new star. When Netflix premiered its shiny new “Queer Eye” redux in 2018, an internet crush was anointed in guacamole chef Antoni Porowski, but the true charmer was obviously Jonathan Van Ness. The tinsel-tongued hair flipper introduced the world to a more fluid view of gender presentation for people assumed to be men, slowly and deliberately challenging gender norms with a charming wit and open playfulness. Often working the runways of middle American households in skirts and heels, Van Ness came out as non-binary in 2019 and has since become the most high-profile femme presenting non-binary person.
As their star rose, Van Ness capitalized on their newfound notoriety to build their personal brand, penning a memoir and continuing their solo podcast “Getting Curious,” which launched in 2015 and is still going strong. (The last episode of 2021 featured an interview with queer singer Brandi Carlile.)

Michael Alig, the flamboyantly costumed “King of the Club Kids” in late 1980s and early ’90s Manhattan whose involvement in the sordid murder and dismemberment of his drug dealer was chronicled in the 2003 feature film Party Monster, died early this morning of a suspected heroin overdose. He was 54.
Alig was found unconscious at his Washington Heights apartment in Upper Manhattan by a friend shortly before 3 a.m. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. The death was first reported by the New York Daily News.
Alig, who reigned over the Manhattan club scene as a party promoter for Peter Gatien’s immensely popular Limelight and Palladium dance clubs, was already infamous outside the city’s lushly attired demimonde even before the murder, having made frequent designed-to-shock Club Kid appearances on daytime talk shows such as The Joan Rivers Show and Geraldo.

Director Greg Barker doesn’t quite have the track record or the mystique of Werner Herzog, but he enters Herzogian territory with “Sergio,” his drama about United Nations diplomat Sergio Vieira de Mello that premieres on Netflix on Friday.
Barker’s new “Sergio,” which stars “Narcos” star Wagner Moura as the celebrated Brazilian who worked for peace around the world for more than 30 years, is the second “Sergio” that the director has made, the first being his 2009 documentary. That puts Barker in the company of a small group of directors who’ve made a documentary about a subject, and then later adapted the same story into a narrative feature – among them Herzog with his 1997 documentary “Little Dieter Needs to Fly,” about Vietnam War Pow Dieter Dengler, and his 2006 feature “Rescue Dawn, which starred Christian Bale as Dengler; Dan Krauss with the 2013 doc and 2019 narrative features “The Kill Team”; and Fenton Bailey...

On the title track of his 2016 album Starboy, The Weeknd declared, "I come alive in the Fall time." Well, it looks like he has indeed risen.
After a five-month social media hiatus, the 29-year-old artist reactivated his Instagram before sharing a cryptic post alluding to new music. Beneath a blurry photo, The Weeknd wrote, "The Fall starts tomorrow night." Sure enough, he released his ruthless single "Heartless" on Nov. 26. He's also expected to release another new song, "Blinding Lights," on Nov. 29. A snippet of the song can already be heard in a Mercedes-Benz commercial.
By now, it's clear The Weeknd is rolling out the release of his fourth studio album, tentatively titled Chapter IV, which will join Starboy, Beauty Behind the Madness, and his debut album, Kiss Land. In the three years that have followed Starboy, however, The Weeknd also released My Dear Melancholy, a six-track Ep, in 2018. On Instagram,...

“American Vandal” is the Netflix true crime mockumentary that has all the Emmy buzz, but there is another one that voters must consider: “Party Monster: Scratching the Surface.” Ok, it’s sadly not a real doc, but it is a real episode of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” that finds the comedy operating at the peak of its abilities.
The third episode of Season 4, “Party Monster: Scratching the Surface” is a standalone episode presented as a half-hour HouseFlix documentary — the streaming offshoot of Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) and Titus’ (Tituss Burgess) cassette tape mail-order company of choice, Columbia House — “directed & everything by” DJ Fingablast (Derek Klena). “Kimmy Schmidt” die-hards will immediately recognize him as Douglas, Jacqueline’s (Jane Krakowski) dog masseuse/boy toy, from Season 2, and as the Mets party cruise DJ in the Season 3 finale. It’s been 28 years since “Home Alone” was released, and Macaulay Culkin still won’t do “the face” for you when you ask him to.
“No,” he told Ellen DeGeneres when asked what he says when he’s asked to do the face. “I’ve already been there, done that. I’m 37 now, okay mom?”
“Everybody wants me to do it,” he added.

During his interview with DeGeneres, Culkin also says it’s been a “curse and a blessing” to have been so famous at such a young age. He says he can get any reservation he wants but will be stared at during the entire duration of his meal. And around Thanksgiving and Christmas, when the “Home Alone” films get played over and over again on TV, he tends to go out less and less.
“It’s Macaulay season,” he jokes.
Culkin starred in the films “My Girl,” the “Home Alone” movies, “Richie Rich,” “The Good Son,” “The Pagemaster” and in 2003, “Party Monster.” He stopped working at 14 and didn’t see his money until the age of 18 when he realized that he had made enough money working as a kid that he could do the rest of the things he does these days as just “a hobby.”

“I do nothing for my dinner nowadays,” the actor revealed.
He also told DeGeneres about his time on “Saturday Night Live” alongside Mike Myers in 1991. While everyone, still to this day, uses cue cards on the show, Culkin’s dad didn’t allow it.
“I had to do a whole episode without cue cards,” Culkin said. “My father was quite insistent.”

When DeGeneres pointed out that everyone uses cue cards, he responded, “Not the 9-year-old, I guess!”
DeGeneres also showed the audience various photos of Culkin’s career, including a photo of him with Michael Jackson for the “Black or White” music video, and a picture of him with Will Smith and Steve Urkel.
“That is the most ’90s photo I’ve ever seen!” Culkin said.

As Timothée Chalamet fever sweeps the country, and “Call Me By Your Name” envelops audiences in the golden hue of Italian summer romance, the future of queer cinema looks bright indeed. Beyond our Adonis-adorned Oscar contender, 2017 delivered an array of satisfying gay storylines; including the breathtaking French epic “Bpm (Beats Per Minute),” the underrated Billie Jean King biopic “Battle of the Sexes,” and Sebastian Lelio’s bittersweet romance “A Fantastic Woman.”
Gone are the days when queer cinephiles counted their lucky stars for one gay-related film a year, a trend that films like “Moonlight” and “Carol” seem to have nipped in the bud once and for all.

Notorious club kid James St. James was canonized in the 2003 film “Party Monster,” which saw an adult Macaulay Culkin return to the screen for the first time since 1994’s “Richie Rich.” In his controversial comeback, based on St. James’ memoir and directed by “RuPaul’s Drag Race” producers Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey, Culkin played a drug-addled party promoter who becomes embroiled in a murder. Fifteen years later comes “Freak Show,” which is based on the eponymous novel by St. James. “Freak Show” has a lighter take on a similar character, although not one without his demons.
From first-time feature director Trudie Styler, “Freak Show” releases its flashy first trailer today.

The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) debuted his music video for "Party Monster" on Thursday, and many fans are wondering whether the singer had been crushing on Selena Gomez prior to their late-night rendezvous on Jan. 10. In the song, The Weeknd sings, "Ooh, she mine, ooh girl, bump a line / Angelina, lips like Angelina / like Selena, ass shaped like Selena." While it's quite clear that the Angelina referenced in the song is Angelina Jolie, it's unclear whether the Selena in question is Selena Gomez or the late Selena Quintanilla. Although it's easy to assume that the lyric is about the "Hands to Myself" singer given the fact that they both performed at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2015 and have known each other for quite some time, The Weeknd was still dating model Bella Hadid when the song was written. While The Weeknd has yet to address the speculation, sources...

I’m talking, of course, about Stiles’ grandfather Elias, the only lead in Scott’s pack’s attempt to save the friend they’re sort of starting to remember. Despite Sheriff Stilkinsi’s stern warning (“You don’t just talk to this guy!”), Scott, Lydia and Malia totally broke...

Blac Chyna‘s latest look has us doing a double-take. Rob Kardashian’s fiancée posted a selfie video on Instagram looking scary-similar to her future Kardashian sister-in-laws.
In the video (which, of course, features fab lighting most likely courtesy of a Kardashian-approved Lumi phone case), the 28-year-old star, who just gave birth to daughter Dream Kardashian, mouths along the lyrics to The Weeknd‘s “Party Monster.” “Giving very exotic vibes,” Chyna captioned the Instagram post, referring to her long wavy extensions.
Chyna also posed in an eerily similar way to Kim Kardashian West and Kourtney Kardashian in their Snapchat selfie videos,...

After making us wait for what felt like ages, Daft Punk and The Weeknd have finally dropped their latest collaboration, “I Feel It Coming.” The new single follows up on their previous hit together, “Starboy,” which is currently sitting at the number two spot on Billboard’s Hot 100.
The build-up leading to the release of the new collaboration has been fraught with anticipation, starting last month after The Weeknd shared an image depicting one half of the robotic duo in action figure form. After confirming that a new collaboration was on the way, things finally reached a boiling point this week when The Weeknd shared the tracklist for his upcoming album Starboy, leaving fans hungry for new music.
“I Feel It Coming” ranks as another strong collaboration for The Weeknd and Daft Punk, featuring a funky production with swanky guitar licks layered over disco rhythms. Abel’s pristine vocals really shine on this one,...

While he’s currently shooting David Simon’s new HBO series The Deuce, which looks at the porn industry in the 1970s and ’80s in New York City, James Franco has another production which explores a more modern look at the industry. King Cobra, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year, follows Franco and Christian Slater as rival gay porn producers who fight over a burgeoning star. Ahead of a release next month, IFC Midnight has now released the first trailer.
We said in our review, “Throw Boogie Nights, Shooting Porn, Downloading Nancy, and Party Monster in a blender, add some cocaine, a scope of whey protein and squirt of lube and you’ve got the unexpectedly fun King Cobra. Inspired by a true story, the sophomore feature from writer-director Justin Kelly is a darkly comic tale set in the wake of Katrina, a piece of background information that informs the lack of smart phones,...

One minute, you’re the king of New York City’s nightlife, enlivening and shocking the lives of others, and the next minute, you’re in prison for ten years on a drug-related manslaughter charge for almost 20 years. Throw Boogie Nights, Shooting Porn, Downloading Nancy, and Party Monster in a blender, add some cocaine, a scope of whey protein and squirt of lube and you’ve got the unexpectedly fun King Cobra. Inspired by a true story, the sophomore feature from writer-director Justin Kelly is a darkly comic tale set in the wake of Katrina, a piece of background information that informs the lack of smart phones, high-speed mobile data, and prevalence of primitive HD video in an otherwise timeless tale of creepy older men taking advantage of younger objects of desire.
Pitting two rival gay porn producers vying for the hot new thing, Brent Corrigan (Garrett Clayton), against each other, King Cobra is a lurid piece of business that, at times, goes gleefully over the top while lacking the kind of gut punch you might expect in the film’s third act. It’s more or less...
