Not a great look at the whole industry but a depressing look at a couple involved in it

A BBC documentary crew spend a few weeks with British porn actress Violet Storm and her partner and manager Jim. Jim also shoots other girls in his series `The F**k Truck' even though Violet doesn't like to watch the tapes afterwards. The film examines their strained relationship as Jim says he loves her but also sees her as an investment and wants her to do more movies to get her out there as a brand.

Taking the line that porn is `easy money' this film sets out to take a very small snapshot of two people involved in the British industry. The idea that this is a dream business for all involved with glamour only ever moments away is pretty much blown when Jim says he made more money as a get-away driver in Scotland years ago. The idea that it is glamorous and not exploitative is even more evident in Violet who is not stupid but just comes across as someone who has let herself be pressured into a lot of things, has given in unhappily and now feels guilty when she doesn't give her all.

This is best seen in the German porn show they attend. Jim sees it as Violet's best chance to get to meet and impress her fans and really get her name around. However when Violet's period starts she was to stop, but Jim tells her to go on resulting in a `sexy' dance with blood all over her own hands and tears in her eyes. However it is also evident in the way that Violet is treated - she has no money or possessions in the world as Jim handles all that and gives her cash when she needs it - Violet doesn't even own her own name (although she mistakenly believes she does). Even the breast operation Jim paid for her to have has left Violet with fake and ridged breast that she is very unhappy with.

This film may not be the most incisive look at the world of porn and is really too basic to make an impact but it is still gripping in it's own way. While it doesn't say much about the porn market overall it does let you look at these two. And this is depressing enough as Jim comes off as a possessive little man exploiting Violet while Violet feels bitterly unhappy and guilty at the same time.
