While promoting the new Garfield animated pic, Chris Pratt briefly touched on his past performance as the princess-saving Brooklyn plumber, Mario.
Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the 2023 animated Super Mario Bros. Movie was an unexpected blockbuster, as it went on to set the record for biggest global opening for an animated movie.
After everything was said and done, the movie made $1.362 billion globally on a meager $100 million production budget. That feat made The Super Mario Bros. Movie the most financially successful film of 2023, according to Deadline Hollywood.
A sequel was officially announced on March 10, 2024, as part of Mario Day celebrations and given an April 3, 2026 release date.
Speaking to Total Film, Pratt teased, "I can't tell you much but I can say that there is another Mario movie coming. It gets me very excited thinking about the world of Mario and Nintendo in general, I think over the next decade...

Steven Spielberg’s visionary approach to bringing the prehistoric era of roaring allosaurus and menacing tyrannosaurus alive met a disappointing end with Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World Dominion. The film’s billion-dollar potential led Colin Trevorrow to follow through with the threequel and almost tanked the entire franchise if not for Spielberg’s reputation that still remains attached to the IP.

It can be undoubtedly said that Jurassic Park is a landmark in the history of cinema. The 1993 Steven Spielberg blockbuster played a crucial role in the career of everyone associated with it. However, the success was not so easy for the lead Sam Neill, who had to go through a lot of pain due to a critical injury during the filming.

In the on-demand era, watching a movie, even a short one, can take hours. In the theater or on TV, the movie cannot be paused, so the most dedicated viewers used to have to go back to the theater to see the same movie over and over again or record the TV broadcast. Now it is enough to buy a movie or watch it online on streaming services.
Therefore, fans who prefer to analyze in depth what is happening on the screen, as well as to understand the most subtle Easter eggs and homages, feel more than satisfied in today's reality! With that in mind, let's talk about the most paused scenes in the movies you all know and love.

Despite early reviews and reactions labeling Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as one of the franchise’s finest, the reception among general audiences seems lackluster. Recent CinemaScores revealed significantly lower ratings than expected, prompting questions about what went wrong.

Both of these titles have been a great success for Frontier. And that’s why a sequel was in high demand for so long. Frontier might have heard those demands, and Jurassic World Evolution 3 is on its way.

The Lincoln Lawyer star Manuel Garcia-Rulfo has been cast in a fresh take on the Jurassic World films. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who led the $3.96 billion trilogy, will not be returning for the new film, directed by Gareth Edwards. While other prominent stars like Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey are also part of the film, it is highly unlikely that the film will make money like Pratt’s films.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will replace Chris Pratt in the next film in the Jurassic Park series after Jurassic World: Dominion
When it comes to the box office numbers of films, it almost appears that the Guardians of the Galaxy star is a money magnet. He has been part of a number of billion-dollar-grossing projects in recent times, including last year’s film The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Move over, Chris Pratt. The Lincoln Lawyer actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is a new leading man for Universal and Amblin’s latest Jurassic World movie. The next chapter in Universal’s dinosaur-run amock franchise already stars Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, and Gareth Edwards is directing. Dinosaurs will rule the world again on July 2, 2025, when the film stomps into cinemas.
Edwards’s Jurassic World movie is a fresh start for the beloved franchise, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return. The next installment also leaves the original trilogy’s stars, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, in the rearview. David Koepp, who wrote Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, is penning the screenplay. Other stars rumored to be up for roles are Dev Patel (Monkey Man) and Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead), though nothing is confirmed.

Joel Edgerton revealed on The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast that he failed his audition for Star Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy” because he just couldn’t nail down the tone writer-director James Gunn was looking for. Chris Pratt ended up getting the career-defining role, which he’d reprise in two “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequels and various other Marvel movies, including “Avengers: Infinity War.”
“Star-Lord’s a good one, actually, because I, unlike Chris [Pratt], didn’t quite sort of understand the tone of it the way he did and the way that those guys did,” Edgerton said on the podcast. “And I wasn’t really sure how I could be a part of that tone. Movie theaters can’t sell tickets if they don’t have a lot of new blockbusters to advertise on their marquees. And the actors and writers strikes that ground Hollywood to a standstill in 2023 left studios with fewer movies to release as 2024 got started. As the biggest exhibitor in the world, AMC Theatres certainly felt the lack of franchise movies and tentpole films as the year kicked off, but the company still managed to beat projections with its quarterly earnings. That was partly thanks to the March release of “Dune: Part Two” and “Kung Fu Panda 4,” popular sequels that helped off-set declining admissions in January and February.
Despite the late breaking entry of some must-see movies, revenues at the the theater chain fell to $951.4 million from $954.4 million in the prior-year quarter. However, net losses for the three-month period ending in March narrowed to $163.5 million, or 62 cents per share. That...

With vibrant green carpets no doubt already having been sourced for its various global premieres, “Wicked” is expected to be one of the biggest movie events this winter. It certainly ticks all the necessary boxes — a major musical adaptation of one of the world’s most successful stage shows and featuring an all-star cast led by the almost-egot Cynthia Erivo and, in her first feature-film lead role, pop princess Ariana Grande.
But however the film — the first of a two-parter — does at the box office, it has already marked a key moment for Universal Pictures, being its first film to be shot at the major new U.K. facility, operated by its Comcast sister company Sky.

If you want to become a dystopian feminist warrior, you’re not going to get much sleep. That was one of the first things Anya Taylor-Joy learned on the set of George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel “Furiosa.” Under heavy coats of makeup, shooting in the Australian winter when daylight was scarce, Taylor-Joy wished she could have stayed in bed at least through the crack of dawn. Instead, she’d rise up in the middle of the night, ready to do battle.
“I had the earliest call time of my life: 1:45 a.m.,” the 28-year-old actress says on a recent Los Angeles afternoon. “I’d be like, ‘I just wrapped! What do you mean?! It’s a mistake!’” Taylor-Joy recalls the painful mornings now with a gleeful theater-kid energy. She chronicled her entire transformation as Furiosa, and took photos of her various makeup tests. She flips through her phone to show me.

The recent news may have caused some kind of panic attack among Wednesday’s fans, but they can now have a good sleep at night — unlike those who enjoyed Jenna Ortega’s character in the animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
When Netflix dropped a new trailer for the show and the news broke online, everybody got concerned about Ortega’s future in the streaming’s biggest hit Wednesday, but now it’s Jurassic World’s fans who should be concerned — and the actress unwillingly confirmed the sad truth herself.
It’s quite fair to say that the show’s brand new trailer has no intrigue at all. The short video proves that Ortega’s character Brooklynn dies in the very beginning, and her death is quickly confirmed by Ben Pincus’s words about the fact that “Brooklynn’s death was no accident. She was targeted.”

Steven Spielberg is undoubtedly one of the greatest voices in filmmaking today. Since the ’70s, he has proven himself to be a very competent director who can dabble in any filmmaking genre with ease. Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, The Color Purple, etc. are examples of his complete mastery over varied genres.
Melinda Dillon and Cary Guffey in Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Spielberg tasted success early in his career with Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. When he decided to put a comedic spin on the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, many, including John Wayne, warned him that it would backfire on him. The underwhelming reception of the film led to a big realization of the mistakes that he made.

When Universal decided to jump on the first weekend of May, a slot normally taken up by Marvel’s popular superhero movies, they were hoping the combo of “Barbenheimer” stars, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, would make “The Fall Guy” a huge early summer hit. Just like Friends and The Office, Parks and Recreation is a show that we keep going back to. One rewatch is never enough now, is it? Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards will now take the helm of Universal Pictures' latest Jurassic World movie, but David Leitch was briefly attached to direct before deciding to part ways with the project.
At the time, we were told that Leitch stepped away after coming to the realization that his "creative input would be minimal due to the project’s fast-tracked status," and the filmmaker has now elaborated on his reasons for bailing on the film.
“We have the privilege of choice and that’s daunting,” he explained during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “And it’s true though, and we’ve kind of earned it, in terms of the movies that we’ve made and the successes they’ve had, and hopefully continued success, but to be asked to be in those worlds, you want to take those conversations seriously,...

Steven Spielberg and John Williams have collaborated on multiple projects over the years, where the filmmaker’s compelling narratives are enhanced by Williams’ musical compositions. Among their cherished collaborations, one that has become particularly special to the Oscar-winning filmmaker has been the soundtrack for the 1993 war drama Schindler’s List.

Spielberg has described it as the greatest piece of composition Williams has done for him. However, settling on one soundtrack proved challenging, especially after the composer presented him with two choices, leading to conflict over which theme music best captured the sorrow of the Holocaust.

Steven Spielberg’s name is pretty much synonymous with almost every iconic film there is in the history of cinema. The director has crafted some of the most unforgettable experiences for audiences throughout the years, but now he feels a pull to focus on more grounded narratives. He believes he has fulfilled his duty in the realm of outworldly spectacle and wishes to shed light on Earth-bound stories that resonate with him deeply.

As a result, he may choose to step away from big franchises like Jurassic World, as its success doesn’t bring him the same level of happiness as working on projects that hold personal significance to him.

Throughout his illustrious career, Steven Spielberg has crafted cinematic universes that have later been expanded into vast worlds of their own.

Jenna Ortega is heading into production on season 2 of the Addams Family-inspired Netflix series Wednesday and has a prominent role in the long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but she’s no longer a part of two other franchises. After starring in Scream (2022) and Scream VI, she reportedly asked for a substantial pay raise to return for Scream 7, despite knowing that request wouldn’t go over well with the producers at Spyglass Media – and sure enough, Spyglass opted not to bring her back for Scream 7. In the wake of the five-season animated series “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous,” Netflix’s “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” is stomping its way onto the platform this year.
“Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” premieres May 24, and the series is set six years after the events of “Camp Cretaceous.” Watch the official trailer from Netflix below.
While the other characters from “Camp Cretaceous” are back in the new series, what’s interesting here is that Jenna Ortega’s Brooklynn is not coming back. Jenna Ortega had voiced Brooklynn for all five seasons of “Camp Cretaceous.”

We’re just two weeks away from the 77th Cannes Film Festival, and this morning the august French institution revealed who will determine the winners of this year’s awards. A cross-section of international talent will join “Barbie” and “Lady Bird” director Greta Gerwig, who will lead the panel, in an effort to undoubtedly compare apples to oranges and try to make sense of a diverse slate of films from directors like David Cronenberg, Francis Ford Coppola, Sean Baker, Ali Abbasi, and many others.
Lily Gladstone, who won several Best Actress awards last year (but not the Oscar!) for her revolutionary turn in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” is the other American joining Gerwig. The actress, currently seen on FX/Hulu’s “Under the Bridge,” is returning to Cannes one year after Martin Scorsese and Apple Original Films brought “Flower Moon” to the French Riviera festival for its out-of-competition debut.

Indeed, these visionaries have a profound impact on the cinematic universe, but when it comes to handling their beloved creations post-release, their paths diverge like a fork in the Yellow Brick Road.

While Steven Spielberg had already done 15 short films by the time he was 18, George Lucas’ Thx 1138, which was screened at the University of California, blew his filmography out of the water. Although Spielberg was left a little envious of the Star Wars director’s work, it didn’t take them long to see eye to eye, eventually developing a decades-long friendship,
Since then, the two have remained pretty supportive of each other, and are responsible for pioneering the blockbuster landscape back in the ’70s. But while Lucas helped out the Jaws director on numerous occasions, things went a little south when Spielberg decided to follow in the sci-fi auteur’s footsteps for one of his most beloved gems.

Twelve years ago, Zendaya netted her feature debut in Disney Channel’s Frenemies.
The actress had been starring opposite Bella Thorne on the Disney series Shake It Up, about performers on a Chicago-based TV dance show. Zendaya was 14 when she and Thorne filmed the anthology comedy for director Daisy von Scherler Mayer, who had helmed the 1995 Parker Posey indie Party Girl and the 1998 feature Madeline. One of Frenemies‘ three connected storylines saw Zendaya and Thorne as aspiring magazine editors competing for a gig with an NYC publisher.
“Zendaya really wanted to have fun with the comedy and lean into it,” von Scherler Mayer says. “She chose to wear big glasses and be goofy, and it impressed me that she wanted to show off her comic chops and has such great timing.”
The film shot in Toronto, and the director recalls the lead actresses having slumber parties during production: “All those teenagers were true teenagers.

Way of The Warrior Kid is slated to begin production this summer, with Chris Pratt starring and McG directing a Will Staples-scripted adaptation of the the novel by Jock Willink. He is the retired Navy Seal who found a thriving second career as podcast host, bestselling author and motivational speaker.
UTA Independent Film Group and FilmNation will introduce the script shortly. If it’s as good as the backstories here, it ought to be a hot property. It’s a youth empowerment tale, only the title character isn’t waving a magic wand or wearing spandex. He’s a self-doubting kid who gets bullied and is hard pressed to complete a single pullup.

Acting in a Marvel movie is not easy, for the actors pretty much are supposed to act against a green screen with imaginary characters. The fan expectations and pressure coupled with the monotonous set environment add to the troubles, and hence, many actors describe having a terrible time shooting Marvel flicks.

As the upcoming Ryan Gosling–Emily Blunt crowd-pleaser “The Fall Guy” shows, doing stuntwork in Hollywood can be risky business. That is why you are supposed to leave it to the professionals.
But Chris Pratt decided to get in the mix a little bit during the production of his next film, “Mercy,” and the result didn’t go so well.
As he shared on Instagram, the “Jurassic World” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor, after saluting his stunt team, admitted he “sometimes tr[ies] to get in there and do some of my own stuff. Today, daddy caught a metal post to the ankle. Should be interesting moving forward.” He included the “thinky guy” emoji and two photos—one of a bandaged foot, the other looking a bit scratched and puffy. It’s unclear to what degree this injury will delay shooting.

Steven Spielberg is one maverick director among his contemporaries who has mastered every genre in the cinema handbook. The director has made intense thrillers, sci-fi dramas, historical/war epics, and comedies. Spielberg can do no wrong and as an ardent lover of cinema, he has no plans of slowing down.

Steven Spielberg is one of the most influential and celebrated directors of all time. He helped define the blockbuster, established the look and feel of '80s genre fare, and gave us the best (and possibly only well-shot) big-budget studio musical of the last decade. But despite getting his start in science fiction, Spielberg has mostly distanced himself from the genre in the past decade or so.
Still, Spielberg has remained an ardent fan of the genre, praising recent gems such as "Godzilla Minus One" and proclaiming his fandom for Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part Two." Perhaps this has rekindled a passion for sci-fi in 77-year-old Spielberg, seeing as he's now getting ready to return to one of his favorite subjects — aliens.
According to Variety, Spielberg is likely going to "make his next project a UFO film based on his own original idea." David Koepp is writing the screenplay, according to the outlet's sources.

Fresh off baring his soul and telling his own life story in the Oscar-nominated movie The Fabelmans, Steven Spielberg is reportedly headed back into the world of extraterrestrials!
Variety notes in a report this week that Spielberg will “likely make his next project a UFO film based on his own original idea,” set to be written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park).
Interesting to note, Koepp is himself returning to his early roots with the next installment in the Jurassic World franchise. He’ll be writing next year’s untitled new installment.
Steven Spielberg is of course no stranger to extraterrestrial encounters, directing two of the greatest alien movies of all time: Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977 and E.T. in 1982. It’s an arena he returned to in 2005, directing an adaptation of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds.

The next installment in the Jurassic World franchise is taking shape, with Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) in talks to lead the cast of the next installment in Summer 2025.
Deadline reports this week that Jonathan Bailey (Wicked) is also in talks to star.
Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla, The Creator) will be directing the new installment, with original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp returning to write the screenplay.
Jurassic World returns to theaters on July 2, 2025. Stay tuned for more.
