Kevin Smith was allowed to pick his own wardrobe for the film. Because of that, most of the clothes he wears in the movie bear his trademark number "37".
Jennifer Garner did not actually enjoy being around Kevin Smith in real life, even though Smith and Garner's then-husband, Ben Affleck, were very good friends. Garner apparently thought his humor was too dirty and childish. This may have contributed to Smith and Affleck becoming less social over time. They didn't work together for more than a decade after Clerks II (2006), but made amends in 2019, after Garner and Affleck split in 2015 and divorced in 2018.
Although this is not a Kevin Smith film, almost all of Smith's trademark elements can be found in it. There's the "sh" joke (he says "fancy, shmancy"), the number 37, reference to comics and superheroes and references to Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977).
