The producers used real bingo players from Pittsburgh for the featured scene in which Bobby Diamond Jr. emcees and performs. Many of the bingo players thought the actor (Tom Stoviak) was in real life a lounge singer and were impressed with his act. The director however was not and instructed the producer 'Pat Shea' to ask Tom to stop entertaining the bingo extras in between takes. The scene was filmed inside the Homestead Carnegie Library on a muggy August day with temperatures inside the library reaching 100 degrees. Stoviak had to be persuaded by the producer not to walk off the set.
