Happy Birthday Marin Mazzie Marin most recently starred in the off-Broadway revival of Carrie. Before that she led the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Next to Normal and in the Broadway production of Enron. She received Tony and Drama Desk nominations and an Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance as LilliKatharine in the hit revival of Kiss Me, Kate, and later received an Olivier Award nomination when she made her West End debut in the show. Two high school students in Las Vegas, Nev. went the extra mile for their U.S. history presentation, wearing Ku Klux Klan robes while speaking to their class. While the students' decision to wear the outfits has led to a debate on what is and isn't appropriate, there were no punishments given.
The Associated Press reports Scott Walker, principal of Las Vegas Academy, wrote a letter to parents after receiving complaints when photos of the students in the robes appeared online. "While the presentation was designed to highlight the atrocities committed by the Klan, and there was no intention to harm or offend on the part of the students," Walker says, "it was in poor judgment and inappropriate for students to go to such lengths to convey their message."

Washington (AP) — The chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts is stepping down after three years on the job. Sixty-five-year-old Rocco Landesman announced his plan Tuesday to leave the post at the end of the year. For most marketers, social media is becoming decidedly antisocial. Looking at the ever-increasing speed and magnitude of so-called “brand fails” on Facebook and Twitter, it can’t be long until senior management starts saying enough is enough.
Social media has proven to be a revolution in communications and has become an essential tool for people to interact with each other. The desire of people to interact with brands or companies or advertising messages via social channels is less proven. Except when given an opportunity to slam them.
Marketers, sold on the (relatively cheap) hot new fad have turned up like the loud, uninvited gatecrasher at a party, who interrupts people chatting to each other and ends up being turned on and turfed out by the other guests.
