Matt Damon and wife Luciana Barroso know how to do date night right.
The couple stepped out to attend the New England leg of U2’s latest tour at the Gillette Stadium on Sunday night. Damon and Barroso hung out in the VIP soundstage area, where they were spotted packing on the Pda as they enjoyed the concert.
“They were super cute together. Hugging. Kissing. Very happy, relaxed and just enjoying the night,” a fellow attendee told People. “They looked very much in love. It was nice to see!”

Live from the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York, it’s SummerSlam 2015!
Lilian Garcia introduces host Jon Stewart and we’re under way! He drops a Beastie Boys reference and hypes up the show. ‘I’ve spent sixteen years talking about politics, it’s nice to be back in reality’. WWE? Reality? This is clearly a WWE-scripted intro, then. Huge boos for Cena’s name. This crowd is going to eat him alive. Mick Foley is brought out- cheap pops imminent…yup, there it is. They riff with each other for a while and it doesn’t really go anywhere. Still, nice to see Foley and Stewart looks up for this.
After the customary video package, it’s time for our first match…
Sheamus Vs. Randy Orton
Good choice for an opener. Orton went for an Rko early, but Sheamus bailed and cut a ringside promo and fans looking stupid.

The Cannes Film festival was an exceptional edition for French films this year. A focus on the rising generation of French actors and directors that have been highlighted in Cannes and will most certainly be the stars of tomorrow was compiled by Unifrance chief Isabelle Giordano.
They are a force to be reckoned with. Unifrance films is ready to bet that you will certainly hear about these ten talented people. They represent the French cinema of today and will soon be on the screens worldwide.
Emmanuelle Bercot
An actress and a director, Emmanuelle Bercot began by enrolling at the Cours Florent drama school and taking dancing lessons after her baccalaureate. She graduated from Femis in 1998, after winning the Prix du Jury at the Cannes Film Festival for her short film "Les Vacances," in 1997. After her first few roles in the films of Jean-François Richet and Michel Deville, her career as an actress took off when Claude Miller gave her one of the main roles in "La Classe de neige" (1998). The following year, she made the headlines with the medium-length film she directed called "La Puce," presented in the selection of Un Certain Regard at Cannes. This film tells of the love affair between a 35-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl, played by Isild Le Besco.
Her first feature-length film, "Clément" (2001), is about the life of a troubled woman who has one adventure after another with various men until she meets a 14-yearold boy. Her second film, "Backstage" (2004), continues to explore teenage angst through a relationship between a hit singer and a young obsessional fan. She earned her first critical and public acclaim with "On My Way" (2013), the third film written by the director for Catherine Deneuve, in which the star plays a woman who has decided to leave everything behind and hit the road in France.
She was indisputably the most talked about person during the Cannes Film Festival 2015, both as an actress and a director. Thierry Frémaux surprised everyone by announcing that "Standing Tall," Emmanuelle Bercot’s fourth feature-length film would open the 68th Cannes Film Festival. Emmanuelle Bercot says that she has rediscovered the social fiber of her beginnings with this tale of juvenile delinquency. After the enthusiastic and unanimous reception of her film, she won the Best Actress Award for her role as a woman under the influence of love in the film "Mon Roi" by Maïwenn, with whom she co-wrote the script for "Polisse," which won the Prix du Jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012
Thomas Bidegain
Thomas Bidegain may well be one of the best known French screenwriters in the profession today, but it took him ten years to achieve this status. His career path in film is anything but ordinary. He started out in the 1990s by distributing and producing independent American films: "Ice Storm" by Ang Lee and "Chasing Sleep" by Michael Walker. He came back to France and joined MK2 where he became director of distribution. In 1999, he returned to production for "Why Not." In 2007, he told the story of his attempt to stop smoking in "Arrêter de fumer tue," a personal diary that was turned into a documentary, then a book.
In the meantime, he began screenwriting and worked on several projects. In 2009, he wrote the screenplay for Jacques Audiard’s film, "A Prophet," alongside Nicolas Peufaillit and Abdel Raouf Dafri, which won the Grand Prix du Jury in 2009. He participated in Audiard’s next film, "Rust and Bone" and "Our Children" by Joachim Lafosse. He was also the co-writer for "Saint Laurent" by Bertrand Bonello. Winning a César for the best original script and a César for the best adaptation, he presented "Cowboys" at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes this year, his first film as a director. He is also co-writer of "Ni le ciel ni la terre" by Clément Cogitore, presented during the Semaine de la Critique, as well as co-writer of the script for Jacques Audiard’s latest film, "Dheepan," which won the Palme d’Or.
Louise Bourgoin
Louise Bourgoin attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts for five years, during which she began her career as a model. After she graduated from art school in 2004, she radically changed direction and became a presenter on cable TV. She was Miss Météo in Le Grand Journal on Canal + from 2006 to 2008. Her slot became essential viewing and attracted a wide audience, including the attention of the film industry.
She began her acting career in "The Girl from Monaco" by Anne Fontaine, and her performance earned her a César nomination for Most Promising Actress. This recognition led to a whole series of roles and launched her career in film. She headed the bill of several films in 2010 ("White as Snow" by Christophe Blanc, "Sweet Valentine" by Emma Luchini, and "Black Heaven" by Gilles Marchand). The same year, Luc Besson selected her for the leading role in "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec."
Since then, Louise Bourgoin has played in film after film, and has taken her first steps in the international scene with her part in the American film "The Love Punch" by Joel Hopkins. She attracted attention at the Cannes Film Festival this year with her unusual role in Laurent Larivière’s first film, "I Am a Soldier," presented at Un Certain Regard.
Anaïs Demoustier
Her passion for acting started at a very young age and rapidly pushed her to take drama classes. She auditioned, when still a teenager, and got her first role alongside Isabelle Huppert in "Time of the Wolf" by Michael Haneke. After this, her career was launched and she played in a series of films among which "L’Année suivante" by Isabelle Czajka, "Hellphone" by James Huth, "The Beautiful Person" by Christophe Honoré, "Sois sage" by Juliette Garcias, "Sweet Evil" by Olivier Coussemacq, "Dear Prudene" by Rebecca Zlotowski, "Snows of Kilimanjaro" by Robert Guédiguian, "Thérèse Desqueyroux" by Claude Miller, "Quai d’Orsay" by Bertrand Tavernier, "Paris Follies" by Marc Fitoussi, etc.
A filmography rich of 30 films for an actress who isn’t 30 years old yet. In 2014, the press talked about the blooming of Anaïs Demoustier because her face and poise became essential to cinema. Present in "Bird People" by Pascale Ferran, "Caprices" by Emmanuel Mouret, "À trois on y va" by Jérôme Bonnell and "The New Girlfriend" by François Ozon, she is Marguerite in the last Valérie Donzelli’s film, "Marguerite et Julien" screened in Official selection in Cannes.
Louis Garrel
The son of actress Brigitte Sy and the director Philippe Garrel, he began his career in film thanks to his father, who started filming him at the age of six in "Emergency Kisses," alongside his mother and his grandfather, Maurice Garrel. He went onto study drama at the Conservatoire National d’Art Dramatique. He made his real cinema debut in 2001 in the film "Ceci est mon corps" by Rodolphe Marconi. Two years later, he played opposite Michael Pitt and the future Bond girl, Eva Green, in "The Dreamers" by Bernardo Bertolucci.
He then starred in another of his father’s films, "Regular Lovers". His performance earned him the César for the Most Promising Actor in 2005. Since then, he has played alongside the greatest, such as Isabelle Huppert in "Ma mère" by Christophe Honoré. This marked the beginning of a long collaboration between the filmmaker and the actor. They worked together in the film "In Paris" with Romain Duris, then in 2007 in "Love Songs" with Ludivine Sagnier, in "The Beautiful Person" with Léa Seydoux, in "Making Plans" for Lena with Chiara Mostroianni and, finally, in " Beloved" with Catherine Deneuve. He also topped the bill with Valéria Bruni Tedeschi in "Actresses," whom he worked with again in 2013 in "A Castle in Italy."
In 2010, he directed a short film, "The Little Tailor," in which he directed Léa Seydoux. He performed once again in one of his father’s films, "A Burning Hot Summer," followed by "Jealousy." In 2014, he starred in Bertrand Bonello’s film "Saint Laurent," a role which led to another César nomination, but this time in the best supporting role category. His first feature-length film, "Two Friends," presented at a Certain Regard, was applauded by the critics. He also starred in "Mon Roi," Maïwenn’s fourth feature-length film, alongside Emmanuelle and Vincent Cassel, presented as part of the official selection.
Guillaume Gouix
After studying at the Conservatoire in Marseille and the Ecole Régionale d’Acteur de Cannes, Guillaume Gouix began his career in television. He played the male lead in "The Lion Cubs," by Claire Doyon, in 2003. Noted for his performance, especially the highly physical aspect of it and his intense gaze, he then played a series of supporting roles as a young hoodlum in "Les Mauvais joueurs" by Frédéric Balekdjian and in "Chacun sa nuit," by Jean-Marc Barr and Pascal Arnold. He featured in the 2007 war film "Intimate Enemies" by Florent Emilio Siri, thus confirming his taste for complex characters.
The following year, he was applauded for his performance in the film "Behind the Walls" by Christian Faure. In 2010, he starred in "22 Bullets" by Richard Berry and in 2011, he established his reputation with roles in "Nobody Else But You" by Gérald Hustache-Mathieu, "Et soudain, tout le monde me manque" by Jennifer Devoldere, and "Jimmy Rivière," Teddy Lussi-Modeste’s film debut.
He also appeared in "Midnight in Paris" by Woody Allen. He performed in three films presented at Cannes this year ("Les Anarchistes" by Elie Wajeman, which opened the Semaine de la Critique, "La Vie en grand" by Mathieu Vadepied, which closed the week, and in "Enragés" by Eric Hannezo, screened at the Cinéma de la Plage). He also directed his first short film "Alexis Ivanovitch, vous êtes mon héros" in 2011 and will soon start on a feature-length film, which is currently being written. He will be topping the bill in 2015 with "Braqueurs," a thriller by Julien Leclercq.
Ariane Labed
Born in Greece to French parents, Ariane Labed has always navigated between her two countries. She studied drama at the University of Provence and began her acting career treading the boards. After setting up a company combining dance and theater, Ariane Labed returned to live in Greece where she played at the National Theater of Athens. 2010 was the year of her first film, "Attenberg," directed by Athiná-Rachél Tsangári. "Alps" by Yorgos Lanthi-mos, the following year, confirmed the talent of this strangely charming actress. Two years later, she starred in "Before Midnight" by Richard Linklater where she played the role of Anna. The follow-up to "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset," this third part of the saga was a great success, making Labed known to a wider audience.
In 2014, she played a young sailor in "Fidelio, Alice’s Odyssey," who is torn between faithfulness and her desire to live her life. Winning the best actress award at the Locarno Film Festival and nominated for a César, the French actress gives a brilliant performance in Lucie Borleteau’s first feature-length film. She joined Yorgos Lanthimos in Cannes in 2015, where he won the Prix du Jury for his film "The Lobster."
Vincent Macaigne
Vincent Macaigne is the leading light in young French cinema. He joined the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris in 1999, appearing on stage and assuming the role of director. His free adaptations of the great classics of literature and drama earned him public and critical acclaim. He directed "The Idiot" by Dostoïevski and presented "Au moins j’aurai laissé un beau cadavre in Avignon," inspired by Hamlet. He also rapidly made a name for himself in demanding art-house films. In 2001, he was seen for the first time in "Replay" by Catherine Corsini. In 2007, he starred in "On War" by Bertrand Bonello and in 2010, in "A Burning Hot Summer" by Philippe Garrel.
Since 2011, Vincent Macaigne’s presence in short, medium and full-length films has gradually increased. Faithful to his directors, he has starred in several of their films. As is the case with his friend Guillaume Brac, who directed him in "Le Naufragé," "Tonnerre" and "Un monde sans femmes." He was awarded the Grand Prix and the Prix Télérama at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, and the Prix Lutin for Best Actor in this film. Under the direction of Vincent Mariette, he played in "Les Lézards" then "Fool Circle." In 2013, we find the funny and touching thirty-something in "La fille du 14 juillet" by Antonin Peretjatko, "Age of Panic" by Justine Triet, and "2 Autumns, 3 Winters" by Sébastien Betbeder.
He was discovered by the general public at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Considered a figurehead of the revival of French cinema, Vincent has drawn the attention of the Cahiers du Cinéma, and even the British newspaper The Observer, which referred to him as the “new Gérard Depardieu”. In 2011, he directed "What We’ll Leave Behind," a very well-received medium-length film which won the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival. He also starred in Mia Hansen-løve’s 2014 film "Eden." He plays one of the main roles in the actor Louis Garrel’s first feature-length film, "Two Friends," presented during the Semaine de la Critique. He also featured in his 2011 film, La Règle de trois.
Vimala Pons
From the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique, where she attended drama classes even though she wanted to be a screenwriter, to circus tents, Vimala Pons is an acrobat in all senses of the word. The 29-year-old actress has established her physical and poetic presence in French art-house films. She began her career in film with Albert Dupontel in "Enfermés dehors" in 2006. She then starred in "Eden Log" by Franck Vestiel in 2007, then in "Granny’s Funeral" by Bruno Podalydès in 2012.
Since then, we have seen her cross France in a little blue dress in "La Fille du 14 juillet," (she plays the girl) by Antonin Peretjatko, and changing into a lioness in "Métamorphoses," by Christophe Honoré. The impetuous muse of French independent film, Vimala Pons played in "Vincent" by Thomas Salvador this year. The actress has made a name for herself in 2015, in particular with "Comme un avion" by Bruno Podalydès, "Je suis à vous tout de suite" by Baya Kasmi, "La vie très privée de Monsieur Sim" by Michel Leclerc, and "L’Ombre des femmes" by Philippe Garrel (presented at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs this year in Cannes). She has also begun an international career, with a leading role in Paul Verhoeven’s latest film, "Elle."
Alice Winocour
The director Alice Winocour started out at Femis. For "Magic Paris," she was awarded the jury prize at the St. Petersburg International Documentary, Short Film and Animated Film Festival.
She continued her career by writing the script for the film "Ordinary," by Vladimir Perisic. At the Cannes Film Festival 2012, Alice Winocour made a marked entry in the international arena with a film by a woman about women and the unchanging way of looking at them. In the film "Augustine," we are told the story of a professor and his patient, played by Vincent Lindon and Soko respectively. In 2015, she brought out her second feature-length film, "Maryland," which was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 68th Cannes Film Festival. She is also the co-writer of "Mustang," by Denis Gamze Ergüven, presented at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs.
They are a force to be reckoned with. Unifrance films is ready to bet that you will certainly hear about these ten talented people. They represent the French cinema of today and will soon be on the screens worldwide.

After going into law, she returned to film and won three prizes for her short film "Kitchen: Prix TV5" for the best French-language short film, best international short film and the Silver Bear at the Festival of Nations (Ebensee).

Exclusive: Other new titles on the Cannes slate include films by Nicole Garcia and Cristian Mungiu.
Wild Bunch is to kick off sales on Emmanuelle Bercot’s upcoming drug scandal tale 150 Milligrams at the Cannes Marché next week.
Danish actress Sidse Babett Knudsen has signed to star as a lung specialist who discovers a link between a series of mysterious deaths and a state-approved drug.
The film is inspired by France’s real-life health scandal revolving around the diabetes drug Mediator, which is estimated to have caused the deaths of around 2,000 people before it was withdrawn from pharmacies in 2009.
Bercot and co-writer Séverine Bosschem’s screenplay is based on the book Médiator 150Mg: Combien de Morts? by Irène Frachon, a pulmonologist who was one of the first medical professionals to spot the link and suggested there had been a cover-up.

Backstage helmer Emmanuelle Bercot will instead be taking the center stage. Ranked #77 in our top 100 most anticipated foreign films for 2015 and starring red carpet habitual Catherine Deneuve, Benoît Magimel (who resembles a Sean Penn in the official photo above), Sara Forestier and Rod Paradot as our child protag, La Tête Haute has been selected as the opening film of the the 68th Festival de Cannes Film Festival.

La tête haute
Director: Emmanuelle Bercot // Writer: Emmanuelle Bercot, Marcia Romano
Though initially an actress that appeared in films from Jean-Francois Richet and Benoit Jacquot (and more recently, two films from Maiwenn, including Polisse, which Bercot co-wrote), Emmanuelle Bercot has fashioned her own career as a director, most recently with the Catherine Deneuve headlined On My Way. Bercot reteams with Deneuve for La tête haute (Head Held High), and adds other exciting names like Benoit Magimel and Sara Forestier to the mix. Co-written by Marcia Romano, who penned delicious titles by Ozon, such as Under the Sand and Criminal Lovers, the film tells the story of Malony and his education as he grows from a six-year-old into an 18-year-old. A minors’ judge and a caseworker work tirelessly to try to save the young offender.

Mon roi
Director: Maiwenn // Writers: Etienne Comar, Maiwenn
Actress turned director Maiwenn’s last stint behind the camera won her the Jury Prize at Cannes 2011 with the moving dramatic ensemble, Polisse. Formerly titled “Rien Ne Sert De Courir”, her latest, Mon roi stars Vincent Cassel and Emmanuelle Bercot, a woman who is more well known as a director (On My Way; Backstage) than an actress, and on top of its pedigree, sounds like an intriguing followup from the impressive Maiwenn. The film, shot back in March, recounts, over the course of several years, the passionate and intricate love story of a couple with a child.
Cast: Vincent Cassel, Emmanuelle Bercot, Ludovic Berthillot
Producers: France 2 Cinema, Les Productions du Tresor’s Alain Attal (Blood Ties), Studiocanal.
U.S. Distributor: Rights Available.

As we hurtle towards the end of August, one TV show is looming large in the not-so-distant horizon. The X Factor.
Forget all that Big Brother nonsense and soggy bottom silliness on Bake Off. Cowell and Cheryl are back in town and they mean business.
Here is everything we know about the show's 11th series so far...
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
1. When is it back?
Very, very soon. The X Factor has traditionally started in August (ever since series two) and it looks likely that it will return on Saturday, August 30 this year. That is one day earlier than series ten, which kicked off with ratings of 8.78 million.
No doubt Simon Cowell will be wanting to increase those ratings figures in 2014 now that he's back at the helm. He wouldn't want to come off second best to Gary Barlow.
2. The Judges
Simon is back. Nobody mention X Factor USA.
He's managed to persuade Cheryl back.

Singer/songwriter Lou Reed.
I interviewed Lou Reed in spring of 2003 in conjunction with the release of his latest album, The Raven. A hero of mine since childhood, our chat did not start out well. As I entered his office in Soho, he greeted me with a look combining contempt and outright revulsion: "Oh you little yuppie punk, please say something stupid so I can throw your ass outta my office," it seemed to say. Happily, Reed warmed up over the next two hours and we had a terrific chat about many things, recorded below.
Several months later, I attended his sold-out concert at the Wiltern in L.A. Backstage, I shook his hand and told him how much I enjoyed the show.. He managed a smile, patted my shoulder, and said "Nice work."
Rip Lou, and thanks for it all.

K-Stew came within feet of Liberty — the ex-wife of Rupert Sanders, with whom she cheated on Robert Pattinson — and it reportedly took a toll on her.
Kristen Stewart apparently can’t even enjoy an evening of music without being reminded of her past mistakes! Kristen and Robert Pattinson attended Jurassic 5‘s Coachella concert April 12, when they suddenly realized they were standing near Liberty Ross! ”The last thing she wanted to do was make Liberty feel uncomfortable,” a source tells The UK’s Sun. ”She looked pretty upset in the backstage bar later on that evening.”
The source adds that Kristen “still feels incredibly guilty” about what happened — Kristen cheated on Rob with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, who was married to Liberty at the time — so she thought it’d be best to avoid Liberty altogether.

Here at the Berlinale, films in Competition receive press conferences where journalists from around the world ask questions. Many of them, for whatever reason, are incredibly bizarre. This was especially true at Friday's press conference for "Elle s'en va (English title: On My Way)," a competition title directed by Emmanuelle Bercot ("Backstage," "The Players," also an actress who was in "Polisse" (which she also co-wrote) and "Carlos") and starring French superstar Catherine Deneuve. In the film, Bettie (Deneuve), a former beauty pageant winner, who, after being dumped, grows tired of the pressures of managing the family restaurant and tending to her aging mother in her small French village and leaves town to smoke cigarettes in the great outdoors and just let loose. While on her escape, she's given purpose by her estranged daughter: Bettie must take her grandson to stay with his grandfather,...

Cohen Media Group are making a ballsy acquisition move at this year’s Berlin Film Festival – picking up Emmanuelle Bercot’s comp film Elle S’en Va (On My Way) hours before it world premiere screening. A deal that was surely facilitated by the fact that the international sales agent Elle Driver worked with Cohen in the recent past (Farewell, My Queen was picked up last year) this dramedy stars Catherine Deneuve.
Gist: This is Bercot’s fourth feature film, co-written with Jerome Tonnere, Bettie (Deneuve) is in her early sixties. Having run out of cigarettes, she climbs into her car and drives off, leaving her mother, customers and the employees of her Breton restaurant to fend for themselves. But her search drags on. The shops are all shut and Bettie has no desire to return to her old life. She has just learned that her long-standing lover has gone off with a younger woman.

Teddy Long then appears in a suit and with a big nametag. He says that John Laurinaitis has put the show is in his hands tonight and he’s booking Sheamus vs Kane in the main event and a Del Rio vs Great Khali match to open the show now…

HollywoodNews.com: The Festival de Cannes celebrated Haiti: Carnival in Cannes Friday night, a benefit event presented by Giorgio Armani in support of Sean Penn’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P Hro), Paul Haggis’ Artists for Peace and Justice (Apj) and Petra Nemcova’s Happy Heart’s Fund (Hhf), for their united and extraordinary work in Haiti. The charities? unity reflects their collective belief that more can be accomplished by working in partnership than alone. This event is the first of its kind for the Festival de Cannes since holding benefit screenings in 1984 and 1996. Additionally, this is the first time that three charities have come together with the support of the festival for one very important cause. "Dancing With the Stars" put its remaining 10 contestants through the week 3 ringer Monday (Oct. 3), with its seasonal tear-jerking rite of passage, "Story Week."
Those stories varied from the deeply personal (J.R. Martinez's tribute to the troops; Nancy Grace's near-death experience) to the exciting (Kristin Cavallari's Beyonce-infused foray into her career) to the baffling (Hope Solo dressed like a gypsy hooker because, you know... soccer?).
It was also a night of high scores, though even Chaz Bono's best showing to date left him alone at the bottom of the leader board.
But who surprised us with their polished performance?...

The Big News: Cm Punk defeated Alberto Del Rio in the main event but Del Rio got the last laugh post-match as the cell was lowered down to the ring and he took both Punk and Cena out with several chairshots. Meanwhile Triple H continued to rile up members of the roster as Christian, Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes all began planning legal action backstage with David Otunga and Christian vs Sheamus was added to the Hell in a Cell card for this Sunday.

The Big News: Triple H booked a triple threat world title match for Hell in a Cell which will see John Cena defending his belt against Alberto Del Rio and Cm Punk. Following on from the Night of Champions controversy Hunter also promised that somebody would be fired by the end of the night and that somebody turned out to the tandem of R-Truth and Miz who were both thrown out of the building to close the show.
Cm Punk came out to start the show. His arm was bandaged up and he was a carrying a limp. I can only hope that John Cena was taking notes backstage on how a superstar should convincingly sell the impact of being involved in a high profile hardcore battle.
Punk told the fans that it wasn’t just his body that was hurting but also his pride as he had to agree...

Zap2it's weekly "'Dancing with the Stars' Diary" offers fans a backstage pass to everybody's favorite only reality competition that throws celebrities at the mercy of that fickle mistress we call dance.
A new ballroom, no more CGI rooftop intro... what is this, "Dancing With a Stranger?"
The significantly revamped Season 13 of our beloved "Dancing With the Stars" got off to a rocky start with all the unfamiliar visuals (and Ron Artest's hair), but the show quickly settled into the familiar routine of scantily-clad ladies, (Kar)dash(ian)ed hopes for mirrorball glory and sexual innuendo from Bruno.
All in all, it was a great debut for our remarkably vital little show. Over the course of two hours, half of the 12 competitors tackled the Cha Cha Cha, with the rest of taking on the intimidating Viennese Waltz. Unlike most seasons, a clear frontrunner did not emerge, but...

Friday Night Smackdown
September 16th 2011 (Taped Sept 13th)
Toronto, Canada
It is Edge Appreciation Night which means we must be in Canada. And here he comes to kick off the show. Later on he hosts the Cutting Edge with Orton and Henry. But first, mic him up. “It feels great to stand in a WWE ring, but it feels even better to do it in Toronto!”. He misses competing, his friendships, and his entrance theme and pyro. But most importantly he misses the fans. “Thank You Edge,” chant.
He can’t finish his next thought however as disfigured Cody Rhodes interrupts. Instead of Edge plugging his appearance on the sci-fi show Haven, Cody does it for him. Rhodes thought Edge was above sucking up. Meanwhile his bag squad cover up some ugly faces at ringside. Edge tells him to do something himself and stop blaming everyone else. Cody thinks Edge is bitter.

If this does turn out to be Law & Order: Ci‘s final season, it sure will go out with a bang. Obviously, no one will confirm that the Great White Way debacle is what inspired the upcoming hour about a high-flying, fast-crashing show called Icarus. But it’s pretty clear that the headlines from which the story was ripped appeared in Backstage,...

The WWE's Edge (Adam Copeland) had a big announcement to make on 'Monday Night Raw' (Mon., 9Pm Et on USA). "Eight years ago, I broke my neck," he told the crowd. Recently he'd been suffering through a lot of pain and losing feeling in his arms.
He was told to get some tests done, and "thankfully I did, because the MRIs showed that, uh, I have to retire," he announced sadly. "The doctors have told me that I got no choice. And thankfully they found out, because I'm not gonna end up in a wheelchair now."
He began tearing up as the crowd chanted in unison: "Thank you, Edge! Thank you, Edge!" Backstage he received a big round of applause and lots of handshakes, hugs and fist pumps.

After music vet's now-infamous 'open letter,' MTV News examines whether the Grammys need to go back to the drawing board.

On Sunday, in a full-page "open letter" in The New York Times, marketing executive and music-industry veteran Steve Stoute took the Grammys; the awards show's parent organization, the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences; and Naras president Neil Portnow to task for their "fundamental disrespect of cultural shifts as being viable and artistic," an outburst that stemmed from the events of the 53rd Grammy Awards.
At last Sunday's awards show, widely perceived favorites such as Eminem and Justin Bieber were upset by lesser-known acts like Arcade Fire and Esperanza Spalding.

Lady Gaga debuted her new single, the much anticipated "Born This Way," on Friday. It's an over-the-top old-school disco track about self-confidence and the power of loving yourself for who you are. Gaga performed the track at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, shortly after emerging from an egg.
Shortly before she took the stage, MTV News caught up with Lady Gaga's frequent producer, RedOne, who promised that if "Born This Way" blew your socks off, then you really need to wait for the next single off her May album release.
"Next one! I'm not gonna tell you the title, but the next single, it's ... I don't want to say. It's gonna shock," he teased on the red carpet.

There were shocks aplenty at Sunday night's 53rd annual Grammy Awards, perhaps none as out-of-the-blue as Arcade Fire winning Album of the Year for The Suburbs, their meditation on the search for meaning, joy and a way out of the endless rows of same-y homes around big cities.
But the arena-rocking indie band didn't score the night's only big head-scratcher. Little-known jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding grabbed Best New Artist from a bummed Justin Bieber and critical-consensus front-runners Drake and Mumford & Sons; pop/country trio Lady Antebellum snagged Song and Record of the Year; and Eminem, up for 10 awards, took home just two in rap categories, losing out on Album of the Year for the third time.

Beady Eye, photographed by Steve Gullick. Beady Eye were born on August 28, 2009, the night Oasis died. Backstage at Paris’s annual Rock en Seine festival, Noel and Liam Gallagher, bedeviling each other since childhood, entered into what would prove their final altercation (involving the smashing of Liam’s prize guitar and a hastily released statement from Noel explaining, “I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer”). Noel will eventually issue his solo debut, but it’s the younger Liam who is firing first. Britpop’s prettiest star (last year voted the Greatest Frontman of All Time by Q magazine, over James Brown, Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury, and Bono) recently launched Pretty Green, his own fashion line (inspired by classic British Mod-gear of the early 60s) and on March 1 will release Different Gear, Still Speeding, by his new group Beady Eye (featuring former Oasis guitarist Gem Archer,...

Talk about having to work for you dinner. Matt Morris was singing his heart out and just about the only thing you could hear at Newport, Kentucky's legendary Southgate House on Monday (June 14) night was the annoying vuvuzela-like buzz of idle conversation.
With just 30 minutes to warm up the sold-out venue before headliner Ingrid Michaelson took the stage, Morris took the high road, winning over the chatty crowd with his soaring falsetto and slyly funky songs rather than berating them for treating his set like an open mike cocktail hour (which, coincidentally, was exactly what was going on upstairs in the Lounge).
Morris, you might recall, splashed onto the scene in February when he joined his old "Mickey Mouse Club" pal Justin Timberlake on a mesmerizing cover of Leonard Cohen's 1984 classic "Hallelujah," which helped introduce him to the pop world after years of behind-the-scenes action by the former child star.

So let’s just call this thing: Crystal killed it, and Lee kinda choked. Having discussed last night’s American Idol finale performance night with EW.com’s preeminent Idoloonie Michael Slezak, I know that was also his assessment of the evening from the vantage point of his living room couch. From my seat inside the IdolDeathStar — a.k.a. the Nokia Theater La Live — the difference between Crystal’s often effortless excellence and Lee’s unfocused striving was even more stark. I don’t think I’ve experienced an Idol finale, on TV or in person, this lopsidedly obvious...

According to Swizz Beatz, helping out the devastated nation of Haiti is not only positive, but necessary.
"I think the important reason to donate to this cause, no matter how much money is being raised or has been raised ... you gotta understand, Haiti has been in shambles way before this event," the producer said backstage at the "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" telethon. "Now you have the real madness that puts the focus on Haiti. If you look at what they been going through before and what they been going through now, it's gonna take more than money. It's never enough money.

The stars of music and screen aligned for Friday's (January 22) "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" telethon. Beyoncé, Jay-z, Bono and Sting were just a few who performed to raise money for Haiti, while actors like Tom Hanks, Morgan Freeman and Reese Witherspooon answered phones.
Haiti's devastation was a uniting cause during the telethon, one that especially touched the hearts of Halle Berry and Taraji P. Henson, who answered phones.
"I want to do every single thing I can do that can help," said Berry, who also made a plea for donations during the show. "Haiti can't have enough money at this point. ... If you've given, give again. If you're ambivalent, open your heart."
Henson echoed Berry's conviction.

While earthquake relief in Haiti was the reason for and inspiration behind "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief," there's no question that it featured some amazing, one-of-a-kind musical performances.
The songs chosen by most of the artists had a thematic connection to the occasion, and the soaring lyrics delivered by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Mary J. Blige and Justin Timberlake underlined the hope for the country that's coming from around the world. The songs' unplugged, often gentle renditions underscored the seriousness of the situation.
George Clooney helped organize the event, and his hope is that the songs carry the event beyond the evening and into the following weeks, months and years.
