The film was featured in Cinemart, the film finance and co-production market at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in January 2005.
Shooting sequences in New Orleans one year after Hurricane Katrina.
Shooting the film took 4 years, with locations in many countries and over several periods of time. The original concept was to make a film about a woman who pretends to have lost her husband on 9-11 in the World Trade Center. Later director C.S. Leigh decided to make the film less narrative and included material inspired by Hurricane Katrina and the 2008 presidential election. The final film became a portrait of America in turmoil.
The complete 4 hour 31 minute version was screened in 2010.
