This film appears as part of the DVD collection "Look In My Shorts".
This is not autobiographical :) I wrote, directed and produced this short back in 2001, based on my short story "Something To Hide Away" from my story collection, What I Can Tell You. We shot it in downtown Manhattan just a couple of weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks, the still smoldering ruins of the Twin Towers just a mile away. We had a shoe-string budget and shot on Super 16mm film stock, meaning we had about 3 takes per shot maximum, which explains some of the rough editing. I'm still not sure how we managed to convince 60 extras to show up for free to be in the bar scene!! Other memorable moments include the anthrax scare on days 2 and 3 and the local mafia boss, Butch aka the "Hatchet" trying to squeeze us for cash.
NOTE: The film has some NSFW scenes, but despite the title isn't particularly graphic.
