- This film was edited for a PG rating for release in Singapore (uncut version is rated NC-16).
- In televised versions of the movie where no scenes are removed, Bart's full-frontal shot is censored. FX aired a version with Bart's genitals covered by a long horizontal black bar with the words "European Version Only"; when it aired on Australian TV, the bar was only large enough to cover the offending area and had no text.
- For network television, the image is modified to fit a 16:9 screen (the same aspect ratio as later, high-definition episodes of the television series). As such, the aspect ratio never widens to 2.35:1 after the opening Itchy & Scratchy segment, and certain shots in the film (notably when Bart, in his tree, speaks to Flanders, in his house) are compressed horizontally to fit everything within frame.
- In the theatrical Japanese release, due to Article 175 of the Japanese Penal Code that prohibits display of genitals, Bart's genitals are blurred. However, home media releases keep the film uncensored.
- In the German dub of the film, a joke that features a ticker that promotes a fake TV show 'Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?' on FOX was replaced with a promotion for a German TV network ProSieben (which ironically is the same channel that aired the original Simpsons TV series) by showing its logo, its slogan 'We love to entertain you.' and some text (translated from German) 'Yes, we take whatever advertising space we can get.'
- The Italian dub of the film has a joke that features a ticker that promotes a fake TV show 'Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?' on FOX translated into said language. The rest remains in English and was translated by voiceover.
- All international English home media releases of the film has the animal subtitles player-generated, as the domestic US release has them burnt-in.
