The little girl who so often appears throughout "F.E.A.R." is Alma Wade, the focus of Project Origin. She was discovered to have paranormal abilities and was subsequently experimented on. She gave birth to a prototype (The F.E.A.R. Pointman) whom was deemed unsuccessful and was transferred to the Icarus Program (where he inherited his incredible reflexes). She gave birth to a second prototype known as Paxton Fettel. Whenever she was not in labour, she was locked away in The Vault. When Fettel was ten years old, Alma's mind synchronised with Fettel's, causing a disaster which resulted in some deaths. Not wanting to risk another synchronicity event, Armacham pulled the plug on Project Origin, and Alma died six days later.
Nevertheless, she managed to synchronise with Fettel again, this time as an adult, and she is manipulating him to free her from The Vault, and take her revenge on her captors ...

Due to unknown reasons, all console versions of the FPS F.E.A.R. were published worldwide with some alterations. The game contains a lot less blood on both the XBOX 360 and the Playstation 3, no blood is splatering against walls and gory textures on enemies are missing as well. However, if the player kills an enemy by severing a limb or making him burst, blood can be seen on both the environment and the enemies. Corpses that are part of the level as decoration also still lie in their own blood.
In the XBOX 360 version, this has already been fixed by a patch which was released on XBOX Live. It is therefore probable that this censoring was/is a bug and not planned by the developers.
