Best Game Ever
malik3244 January 2006
This is the best game I have ever played. Whoever disagrees is not a real fan of Marvel. Sure, the game could always have more characters, seeing as Marvel has like a thousand of them. How could you not like this game with Iron Man on it? He's nearly invincible and can lift cars, fly, and shoot lasers. It doesn't get much better than that. Despite my obvious love for this game, some of the characters were unknown and unnecessary. Like Solara and The Wink. Maybe they are there because they go with the story line. But again, a game with Venom in it can't be that bad. I go to a boarding school and I can't tell you how much I miss my game-cube and this game. I got all the characters in one day without stopping. Here's a tip: To unlock venues and characters, play in versus mode against the computer ten times. You will unlock things in increments of ten won games. I don't think the number of lives matters, but I always put the computer's lives on 2 just in case. There is no way you cannot love this game.

One of the best Marvel games
Rautus29 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects is fantastic in many ways, it's got non stop action, destroyable arenas and some of the best Marvel Characters to play as. There could of been a few more but I'm happy with the Characters they chose, being a fan of Marvel this is one of the best games I've played. The story is about New York being invaded by mysterious aliens called the Imperfects that are lead by an Alien Scientist that wan'ts to capture the Marvel heroes for his Army but the Marvel heroes are going to try and stop them.

The game play is easy to pick up since their isn't any combos instead you press one button to punch and another for a different attack, Story mode has you playing as the Marvel heroes doing a number of missions. The missions have you destroying a bunch of Imperfect robots sometimes with a limit, destroying a number of environments or confronting an Alterted Marvel hero or Imperfect.

The Marvel Characters are:

Spider-Man,Venom, Iron-Man,Daredevil, Eleckta, Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, The Thing, Human Torch

The Imperfects are:

Johnny Ohm, Hazmat, The Wink, Fault Zone, Solaris, Brigade, Paragon, Niles Von Roekel

For Marvel fans and Beat em up fans Marvel Nemesis is one of the best to go for. 10/10

Fighting game that needs more marvel characters and a better story mode.
Aaron137516 December 2005
This games cover made it look like an extremely well done game. Add to that a nice opening sequence as invaders have come to destroy earth and some of earth's mightiest heroes have already fallen. In the end it disappoints with to much focus on the Imperfects and not enough on the marvel characters especially in the end. I like to be able to play a game without inviting the gang over to play and as a single player game this one will keep you entertained for a bit, but not over the long haul. The fighting is easy to pick up and I love the fact that the characters are not the same strength, but why such a limited number of characters? Sure we get Spider-man, Wolverine, Venom, Daredevil and more to choose from, however the marvel universe is so expansive you could have had twice the number of marvel characters and still had the three they choose to knock out of action early. This game could have won me over also with multiple endings, but it doesn't go the only route that could have saved it. Instead the ending rushes at you with one lame character you have to win with...why not have it so you decide who win's the game and save the day? That would have given this game so much more replay value. In the end an okay fighter with some of your favorite marvel characters and some new characters who often mirror one of the marvel ones.

underrated hidden gem
JustaFanDamnit28 March 2024
The story brings a fresh take and perspective through the anti hero's point of view the game and limited comic series explores those interesting with unique concepts but it fails because of the limitations and repetition from replaying the same stages multiple times in story mode, limited character roster that isn't enough for replay value, annoying flying enemy types, annoying projectile enemies that'll target you offscreen, limited moves & limited locations.

There's alot that brings this game down from all of it's flaws. Even killing off punisher, hulk, and captain America (which is ironic and a obvious plot hole because captain america would later show up for the psp port) at the game opening intro. But the problem that i have with this game story is that u don't get enough time to experience what's going on with this universe to care about the story and it's characters including the marvel characters. It felt rushed and incomplete like were given bits and pieces. There's only 11 chapters that all feel the same. I love the cutscenes that shows the imperfects backstories this could've been it's own animated series but u just don't get enough time to develop any of these characters to really draw u in. The story is very short. The problem that I think alot have with this game is that the story and it's concept wasn't planned out, even it's prequel tie in limited comic series contradicts this game story. Such a letdown to a game that had this much potential that can be explored and improved on. This game earn a that right to have a sequel and to be revisited. It holds up well still to this day even running around in a open world stages that u don't see in fighting games.

Overall it's pretty good even for it's time. I would love to see this cast reprise their roles for a potential sequel and EA partnership to revisit this universe because the potential is there.

Boring story, clunky game-play
The-Phantom-204015 August 2006
This is not the game it could have been. Even with the very simplistic fighting (mash a few buttons repeatedly), it could have been much better. The storyline isn't all that coherent, and as often as not the "missions" don't really make any sense. Add to this the very, very repetitive levels where your main goal for the game is to fight wave after wave of typically-unbalanced enemies.

The game's saving grace--in fact, the only truly good feature--is the ability to fight other human players. The A.I. is so hideously stupid that it's almost laughable. The random enemies are rather unbalancing, as sometimes a character must face hordes and hordes of some type that they aren't all that well-equipped to handle.

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I feel let down. The only reason I'm keeping this game is the ability to fight with Marvel characters against my friends. The single-player mode is just too clunky--with no lock-on ability, a camera that moves around in unpredictable ways, and no ability to detect an attack coming from off-camera, it really feels like the game had potential and didn't just miss it, but missed by a mile.

I never thought I'd say this, but for Marvel fans, I'd have to suggest using a cheat device to access the things normally "earned" through game-play. It makes it a lot easier when you want to battle your friends.

On the whole, it's not the game it could have been.

There are plenty of characters to keep you entertained and the levels are pretty good too. The battle system is alright, and easy to learn for beginners.
ServantReborn8 December 2005
Marvel Nemesis could have been better in my opinion. There should have been more variation between characters. The thing is that once you learn how to play as a certain character,it's pretty much the same as the other characters. I like the detail they but into the game. Explosions are awesome. The music is cool too, but can get boring after a while. On the bright side, the music keeps you ready for more. It pumps you up and gets you excited to play. Addtionaly, I really like how the statuses of the characters are; they really match the characters perfectly. I do wish that maybe two or three more characters were included though. In conclusion, this is an awesome game, and a must have for die-hard fans.

This is the perfect game.

Warning: Spoilers
I found this game flawless. Yes with some weak characters and an annoying story mode it can get on your nerves, but it still is excellent. For starters, I don't most people have seen a 1-on-1 fighting game where you can leave the opponent your fighting alone and look around the arena. It's like SSBM all over again! I'd also like to complement on the mix of the Marvel Heros and EAgames own characters the Imperfects. They all have there own stories and have amazing moves. There is also a neat rewards mode where you can check out any cards, movies, or comics you have unlocked when playing story mode. The comics are actually read to you! Overall, Marvel Nemesis is the perfect game.
