Lower-Key But Still Fast-Moving
ccthemovieman-113 November 2007
The most important and dramatic part of this episode was an exchange: Jack Bauer for Behrooz Ariz. What the C.T.U. hasn't figured out, however, was that the prisoner exchange was just a diversion to keep the good guys occupied while the terrorist forces worked at their final plan without interruption. (Of course, that doesn't happen, either.). The latest big plan, as it is slowly being revealed to us, has something to do with a Stealth bomber and an American named "Anderson," who is impersonating an officer to get on that plane. Will there be a bomb on it? Presumably, but nothing has been said.

There are a bunch of minor items that take up the rest of the hour, all interesting but nothing of note. This was a lower-key episode, even though it had a number of items that kept the 45 minutes going at a good clip. This TV show rarely, if ever, drags, and most scenes only last a a couple of minutes before it's on to something else. It moves from situation-to-situation fairly quickly. Before you know it, the program is over. It keeps things fresh.

Episode 15 of Season 4 of "24" ramps up the tension as Jack Bauer and CTU face new threats and challenges. The episode begins with a sense of urgency, as Jack must navigate a series of obstacles to stay ahead of the terrorists. The pacing is brisk, with each scene propelling the story forward and maintaining a high level of suspense.

One of the most striking scenes in this episode is a tense negotiation between Jack and a key antagonist. The direction here is superb, with carefully framed shots and tight close-ups that emphasize the stakes. Critics from The New York Times praised the episode for its "gripping negotiation scenes" and "masterful build-up of tension."

The episode also explores the emotional toll of the mission on Jack and his team. The personal stakes are highlighted, adding depth to the characters and their struggles. Kiefer Sutherland's performance is a standout, capturing Jack's determination and vulnerability. The supporting cast also delivers strong performances, adding complexity to the unfolding drama.

The cinematography and lighting in this episode are particularly effective in creating a sense of danger and urgency. The use of shadows and contrasting light adds to the atmosphere, while the sound design enhances the overall tension. The score is well-matched to the action, punctuating key moments and driving the narrative forward.

In conclusion, Episode 15 is a compelling continuation of the season's high-stakes narrative. The combination of strong performances, effective direction, and intricate plotting makes for a captivating hour of television. As the story progresses, the stakes continue to rise, leaving viewers eager for the next installment.

A Drop in Quality

This is a bundle of questionable plot elements. For one thing, why even release Jack? He should have been killed. Why get the kid? There is something stagnant and cautious here, like they needed to kill one hour until the next one came along. The whole thing with the boy, who obviously has nothing for them, is cruel and pointless. And then what is that phony pilot up to?

not good enough!

I would say this is the worst episode of the series so far. The interrogation scenes are boring and unrealistic. The whole episode lacks logic. Planting tracking devices and not expecting the consequences ? (Specially the lack of plan B.) What were the writers thinking? Interrogating a teenager wasn't interesting at all. Anyway Bouer's brilliance to create a lead to Marwan and his reaction to the exchange were convincing. I haven't written any reviews on these episodes so far. But this one made me do it. and only because it's let down the momentum created by the previous episode. Slightly disappointed. u can Skip through some scenes. 4 out of 10
