Jane Curtin's laughter throughout the leather pants scene in her office was genuine as the entire shot was an outtake that was used.
At the end of the episode, Dr. Mary Albright (Jane Curtin) asks Dr. Dick Solomon (John Lithgow) how old he is. Dick eventually responds, "42." Mary exclaims, "So am I!" In reality, John Lithgow was 51 and Jane Curtin was 49.
As graduate student Laurie (Lauren Graham) is saying goodbye to Dick (John Lithgow), a young man pokes his head into the office to tell her the car's outside. When she explains to Dick that he's her boyfriend, Dick says, "But I thought you only liked older men." She says, "I do. He's twenty-nine." When this show aired on 23 January 1996, Lauren Graham was just a few weeks from being twenty-nine herself (born 16 March 1967).
