Another fun episode from the first series!

Warning: Spoilers
"Fat" is the second episode. Edina's weight will go on to become a running joke throughout "Absolutely Fabulous," but episodes "Fat" and "Donkey" have the issue more centered as the plot. In "Fat" Edina is already unhappy with her weight, but the announcement of a visiting rival named Penny Casper-Morse (Alexandra Bastedo) sends her into a panic to lose weight immediately. Edina attempts to exercise, but learns Penny's visit will be sooner than she thought. Patsy then tries to book Edina for emergency liposuction. This episode introduces Edina's second ex-husband, Justin. It also features a hilarious nightmare of Edina experiencing botched liposuction and collagen injections.

Penny Caspar Morse.

Eddie is worried, she's put on weight, and can't squeeze into her slacks, worse still a face from the past is coming back to haunt her.

It's so funny, the highs and lows of Eddie, as always Saunders is magical. Hard to find any single fault, the script is terrific, it's super funny, but once again it's the acting that is first class, everyone involved is hilarious.

Penny Caspar Morse arrives, played by the ever fabulous Alexandra Bastedo.

Very funny satire around body image

Edina feels conscious of her weight and looks for some fashionable solutions.

This is a well written episode with the themes of body image, weight loss and the celebrity to lampoon the characters.

The plot has a nice ticking-clock structure with Eddie preparing for a visit from someone who she does not wish to notice her weight gain. She goes through a number of very funny potential solutions to the problem with eventual resolution being quite ingenious.

All the banter between Eddie and the other characters is excellent with some great put downs and retorts. As always her exchanges with Saffron are some of the best bits of the show.

Performances are excellent with Jennifer Saunders, Julia Sawalha, Joanna Lumley, Jane Horrocks and June Whitfield all on top form.

Filled with offensive and racist language

Asian people are not a joke.

Indian people are not a punchline.

Chinese isn't a trend for you to follow.

People exist.

I challenge to re-watch this without cringing at all the targeted micro aggressive phrases.

"Ying Yong" isn't funny. It's racist.
