Professor Pepperwinkle has solved the riddle of the ages. He can change metals to gold. The Treasure Department arrives at the Daily Planet and warns against a collapse of the global economy if he persists. The old guy agrees and Perry White warns his reporters to keep their mouths shut, especially Mr. Jimmy "Blabbermouth" Olsen. Of course, they go out to lunch and it isn't long before he loudly mentions the invention. Once again, there are two guys in the booth behind them (in Metropolis, you can't move a flower pot without finding a gangster behind it). Of course, these guys want in on the gold and grab the good professor. They tell the inventor that harm will come to Miss Lane and Mr. Olsen if he doesn't comply. Wouldn't you know it, Jimmy and Lois head off to Pepperwinkle's lab and are informed about the crooks. Pepperwinkle has a couple of sandbags rigged up to drop on the crooks when they come, but he inadvertently drops on on Jimmy. When he awakens, he and Lois are told that if they take a couple of "positive" Kryptonite pills, they will have the powers of Superman, and they do, blasting through walls and flying around. Anyway, Jimmy's excitement is short lived and reality sets in. This is a fun episode in many ways. It's too bad the show was discontinued due to the death of George Reeves (murder or suicide?) or it may have gone on for a good deal longer.
