- TriviaThis is the third and final appearance of Rita Campbell (Dorothy Neumann), Otis Campbell's wife.
- GoofsIn the previous episode, the view outside Otis' cell window was shown as a wooden fence, a vine or tree branch and open sky (actually a makeshift fence prop and a stage scrim). Here, the entire view is of a brick wall.

Barney Fife: Well, what kind of a job can you give to Otis? He's irresponsible! He's careless! He's unreliable!
Andy Taylor: I'll make him a deputy.

Andy & Otis 2 hypocrites
Hard ball Andy recently traveled to arrest an out of town speeder who skipped his court date. But here deputizes the town drunk. Otis has a lot of nerve balling out Ralph with his own drunken history. Never satisfactorily explained why Otis just doesn't go home after drunken stupors. Or why Barney is at the courthouse overnight sometimes and other times not. Otis has a very nice home for his seemingly always looking for a job. Funniest scene biggest laughs when Barney makes Otis recite his pledge, followed by an inspection. One of the funniest scenes in the show's history. Terrific final episode of season 2. I rated season 2 episodes an average of 8 out of 10.
