Yvonne Craig talked the producers into letting her do her own horseback riding as Batgirl. She quickly changed her mind, however, when she saw the large, fierce horse. A male jockey doubled the scene for her.
The name Wally Bootmaker spoofs that of the famed real life Jockey Willie Shoemaker.
The "Parasol" horse (disguised) name in the Wayne Foundation Handicap is "Bumbershoot" which translates as another name for umbrella (i.e. parasol).
This is the first time the second part of a multi-part story does not begin with a recap of the previous episode and begins in a different location than the end of the previous episode.
Although Batgirl's identity is kept secret, this episode comes very close to showing that Alfred and Bruce Wayne know more than they let on.
