The fabulous Countess (Jean Willes, but of course!) returns to the series, not married at the time, and will Jed be a possible contender for her next husband? This episode is yet another in a long series that also boasts Granny's remarkable "tonic water," which the Countess may need. The inside joke about the tonic was it may have been a incredible invention, making Granny the hillbilly Madame Curie!
Jean Willis, a staple in classic B films, makes the most of her role, and from a distince, looking a lot like Zsa Zsa Gabor. At first, I thought it was her!
She has some fun lines, thanks to series writer Mark Tuttle, who wrote well over 100 classic episodes for the show.
Jethro, as usual, is a hoot, dressed up in a European military uniform(?), applying for the job as the Countess' chauffeur. And check out her sleek, black vintage limmo. Another episode where tough gal Ellie May tackles Jethro, and looking like she's having a blast.
Two notable bit parts; old timer Burt Mustin plays a chauffeur with a deep, deep voice and Susan Hart plays a bank receptionist. Hart was best known for cult 60s bikini movies, such as DR. GOLDFOOT AND THE BIKINI MACHINE.
Good stuff, even in black and white. SEASON 3 EPISODE 26 remastered/CBS.
