- Cliff idolizes Weather Channel anchor, Dorothy Boysick, who, annoying to most but endearing to Cliff, has a lisp. Cliff writes her a fan letter, and gets an unexpected reply. Meanwhile, co-owner of the bar, Rebecca, wants to open a tearoom in the pool room. Sam thinks it's a dumb idea, but allows Rebecca to open it on a trial basis, letting her keep it if she clears $500 on her first night. Sam thinks this goal impossible for Rebecca. Things are going very slowly on her trial day, and Rebecca doesn't help her own cause when she chastises Frasier and Lilith, her first and only customers, when they solely order her loss leader, orange pekoe tea. However, things take an up turn for Rebecca when she hijacks and starts selling Woody's chili, which everyone in the bar loves. As it seems like Rebecca's converted chili room is a success, Sam feels like he needs to take drastic measures to sabotage Rebecca. Sam ultimately shows Rebecca how he feels about her as co-manager/co-owner, but he shows more about how he feels about his 'vette.—Huggo
- Cliff becomes enamored with a Weather Channel newscaster, and is infatuated with her lisp. He sends her a fan-letter...only for her to mistake his handwriting with that of a child.
Meanwhile, Sam is distraught when he finds that Rebecca has converted the pool room into a tea room (and has moved the pool table into the main office of Cheers). When Sam claims that he is going to lose out of at least $100 a night because of the loss of the pool room, Rebecca claims that she can make $500 a night with the tea room. Naturally, Sam takes the bet, sure that he's gonna win.
During the first 24 hours, and even though she's sent out invitations, the only people who come by are Frasier and Lilith, but their request to only order tea and nothing else soon infuriates Rebecca, and her attitude pushes them to leave. Upset that it seems Sam has won the bet, Rebecca then notices that Woody has made some chili with a pressure cooker his family has sent him. Seeing everyone crowding around it, Rebecca soon has Woody make more chili in the tea room, and every other person s soon clamoring for some.
Hoping to stop her from winning the bet, Sam calls the Fire Marshall to inspect the room...only for him to emerge asking Rebecca about the recipe for the chili. Finally figuring that he's out of luck, Sam concedes defeat and offers to pay Rebecca the remaining money she needs for a bowl of chili. However, when he goes back to get the chili out of the pressure cooker, Sam ends up making a mistake, and the pressure cooker blasts through the wall and out into the alleyway.
Rebecca claims that Sam did this on purpose, but he claims he did not, and says he could cry because of what happened. Rebecca then demands that he cry, which will convince her that he's sorry. However, Sam is unable to do so, until Rebecca walks out into the alley, and the sound of glass breaking is heard. When she returns to Sam, she explains that she just broke the windows of his Corvette...which causes the tears to finally flow.
