- Bret: What are your plans when you get to San Francisco?
- Lola McQuilan: [very bashful and shy] Well... get a job, I suppose. San Francisco is a big town, I understand they have several theatres. I'm... um... an "actress".
- Bret: This is quite an "event". I've never been this close to an actress before.
- Lola McQuilan: [now more at ease] Well, that makes us even... I've never been this "close" to a preacher!
- Ruth: I believe you told me the "truth" last night.
- [referring to Cheyenne's confessing on why he's wanted]
- Cheyenne: Thanks.
- Ruth: What you're planning to do is still wrong.
- Cheyenne: I don't think so.
- Ruth: Vengeance is Mine. I will repay, saith the Lord.
- Cheyenne: That's a good solid quotation, but one time it's not practicable. Those men are killers and they're running loose.
- Ruth: Please, please listen to me. If you promise to stay on this train when we get to White Bluff, I'll forget what I "know" about you.
- Cheyenne: I know that was not easy for you to say... I'm grateful, but I cannot accept it.
- Ruth: Then you don't leave me any choice...
- [referring to her turning him over to the authorities]
- Bret: [attending to his wound after been shot by an Indian] You are not at all frightened are you?
- Lola McQuilan: I suppose I am but haven't had time to notice it!
- Bret: I must have known it all along.
- Lola McQuilan: Known what?
- Bret: That you're a wonderful woman.
- Lola McQuilan: Sounds like you've been "hit" in the head, not in the shoulder!
