The Squeeze
Prismark1031 July 2020
Just to remind viewers that this is an action adventure series successor to The Professionals. It starts of with a very well staged heist of a security van carrying half a million pounds of used notes. A van with no radio to contact the base mind you. Still the whole scene is good as you would find in a feature film.

Meanwhile Makepeace is not keen on being lumbered with Dempsey for 12 months. Spikings is not happy that Dempsey is going around the streets of London with a big gun. Spikings takes the gun and places it in an unlocked draw.

The stolen van is loaded on a boat. Spikings has locked down the area but it is Dempsey who thinks that a barge might be holding the van until the lockdown is over.

Like The Professionals there is a lot of location shooting with The Cutty Sark in the background in Greenwich. The producers were fortunate to find the Cutty Sark where its had not been burned down..... again.

When it comes to the action scenes Brandon who retrieves his gun manages to channel his inner Dirty Harry. There is a finale that includes a car being crushed. It is preposterous but done in a fun way.

A tight squeeze at the end!

Starts with a clever heist, which is quite tense and ingenious, and of course Dempsey and Makepeace are called in what is their first partnership after the pilot, and we get their boss Spiking shouting, getting his blood pressure up and reminding Dempsey that this isn't New York. There's the usual engaging investigation, nice banter, but Dempsey and Makepeace ending up in a close relationship via a car crusher is a standout scene.
