- TriviaOriginally when giving his description of the beast, Dougal was meant to say that "instead of a mouth, it's got two faces." Ardal O'Hanlon didn't think the line was funny, and while recording the episode he changed it on the spur of the moment. His new version ("instead of a mouth, it's got four arses") proved so successful that Dermot Morgan was forced to wait several minutes before he could continue, due to the amount of laughter from the studio audience.
- GoofsWhen Chris the Sheep is lost, and the priests go looking for him, Father Ted speaks of the Sioux Indians of Arizona, but the Sioux never traditionally lived in Arizona, but in the Great Plains. There is no record of Arizona being their natural habitat, nor of any of the tribes or subtribes of the Sioux being native to Arizona.
- Quotes
Father Dougal McGuire: [Describing the beast] They say it's as big as four cats and it's got a retractable leg so it can leap up at you better. And you know what Ted, it lights up at night and it's git four ears, two of them are for listening and the other two are kind of backup ears and it's claws are as big as cups and for some reason it's got a tremendous fear of stamps. And Mrs Doyle was telling me that it's got magnets on it's tail so if your made out metal, it can attach itself to you and instead of a mouth, it's got four arses.

Very funny.
Poirot was big business back in 1998, so Father Ted decides to have its own mystery, Chirpy Burpy Cheap Sheep plays out like a typical mystery series episode, with a grand unveiling at the end.
The series seems to have gotten more and more zany as time has gone on, and this is surely one of the craziest of the lot. I just as the show has gone more bonkers, Mrs Doyle has gone more and more batty, the poor dear has been worked to the bone, and now always seems a sad and ill figure.
Who doesn't love Chris the sheep, so funny, real name Priscilla.
Some fine moments, 8/10.
