- Sunny Mandell, a teenage runaway, holes up in Honolulu with a man who helped her back in Los Angeles. But the helpful man is a gangster with a grudge against Sunny's father, a Los Angeles cop who sent him to a California prison. The gangster takes Sunny to a hotel where he murders an associate and forces Sunny to take hold of the murder weapon, leaving her fingerprints on it. Sunny's father has meanwhile arrived in Honolulu and consulted with McGarrett about the connection. With the unlikely help of a Peeping Tom who witnessed the murder with his telescope, they clear Sunny of the murder but can't find her - she ditched the killer and went panhandling on the streets, where the leader of a weird cult found her and offered her refuge in the cult's group home while indoctrinating her. It becomes a race against time and a battle of wills as McGarrett, the cult leader and the murderer all compete to get Sunny under his control.—Peter Harris
- Sunny, a teenage runaway from Los Angeles, ends up in Honolulu with her much older boyfriend, Todd Daniels. Todd was busted years back and sent to prison in connection with a drug case where Sunny's policeman father Babe Mandell was involved. During the operation which resulted in Todd's arrest, his brother was killed and now Todd wants revenge. Todd takes Sunny to a motel where Liana Meyers, a girlfriend of his, has murdered some stranger. The two of them try to set up Sunny so it looks like she is the killer, but she escapes and ends up living with a cult whose charismatic leader Osiris offers her refuge. Sunny's father arrives in Honolulu to try and track down his daughter with Five-O's help. Daniels competes with Five-O and the father to find Sunny; Daniels wants to shut her up, the other two want to rescue her. A Peeping Tom who expected a "swap meet" in the motel where the murder took place across from his house provides some clues which help the investigation.—"Mr. Mike" Quigley
