- With Ruth out of town, Mr. Sloan tries to discretely make time with Judy but keeps running into obstacles; Anne returns home from the hospital with her and the family struggling to adjust to her disabled state; Charlie takes a second job as a door to door salesman.
- Ruth's visiting her Aunt Lorene, so Mike gives the Davises the day off and calls up Judy for dinner. Mike's plans are foiled when Sam joins him instead. Judy notices and sits in the other side of the restaurant. Ruth extends her visit and the Davises get yet another unexpected day off while Mike tries to rendezvous again with Judy. To reschedule their meeting time Judy calls Mike's office and ends up leaving a message with Caroline saying she was the dry cleaners. Caroline is up to something and rummages through Mike's garage and finds the number to the roadhouse.
The Davises spend their days off doing bookkeeping and checking out the restaurant competition. They see Mike with Judy, even though Mike didn't stop. Judy decides that they should just eat at her apartment. Mike kisses Judy, and they decide to break off their relationship.
Ruth returns home early. Calling Mike's office Caroline answers and gives Mike an alibi. She then uses this new information to get over time pay from Mike.
Charlie decides to sell brushes to supplement his income so he can support his new family. Charlie has a hard time with the brushes. Anne's pride keeps her from seeking the help of her family and friends. A strong talking to from Al turns her around.
