George Romero and Tom Savini
The Incredibly Strange Film Show: George Romero & Tom Savini (1989)
This British television show was hosted by Jonathan Ross and featured interviews with various "B" movie makers. When viewed today this series is all the more important because so many of the filmmakers are no longer with us.
Fans of George Romero and Tom Savini will certainly enjoy this episode as the two men are interviewed about their working relationship. Things start off with Romero and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD but then we get into MARTIN, DAWN OF THE DEAD, DAY OF THE DEAD and then some pre- production notes on the remake of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Savini's career is basically looked out via his work with Romero so there's not any mention of stuff like MANIAC or Friday THE 13th. For the most part this is a very fun episode and we get some nice behind-the-scenes stories as well as the two men talking quite fondly of the other. It's also fun hearing Romero talk about whether he'd want to make another zombie movie (of course, time has told us that he would make three more - to date).
