At the time this episode was filmed and originally shown, Benjamin Bratt and Julia Roberts were a couple in real life.
This episode appears to be based on the arguments between real-estate developer Donald Trump, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and the New York Yankees owner George M. Steinbrenner III over a new sports stadium.
This is 200th episode of the series.
The plot is centered around a plan to finance a new stadium in Manhattan for the New York Giants football team. In 2004, five years after this episode first aired, proposals for a publicly-financed "West Side Stadium" for the rival New York Jets football team were pushed by the Jets ownership and state governor George Pataki. The proposed stadium would have formed the centerpiece of New York's bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics. The project failed amid opposition from local residents, businesses and politicians.
This episode has been aired on Sky Italy as a standalone TV movie--with the title "Corruption Empire - Nella morsa del potere"--probably because of Julia Roberts' participation as guest star.
