The last of the original cast members, Steven Hill (as Adam Schiff), was replaced by Dianne Wiest (as Nora Lewin) in this episode.
New York's Mayor Rudy Giuliani makes a cameo appearance introducing Nora Lewin. Giuliani's wife, Donna Hanover, has made several appearances on the show as a judge.
This episode appears to be based on the 1997 Janine Albury-Thomson case.
Daryl Edwards has portrayed fours different characters over the course of the series:
- Episode 1.8 Poison Ivy (1990) - Richard.
- Episode 9.11 Ramparts (1999) - Allan Taylor.
- Episode 11.1 Endurance (2000) - Nathan Walpole.
- Episode 15.13 Ain't No Love (2005) - Shawn Foreman.
Rita Gardner, who plays the jury foreperson in this episode, played Luisa in the original off-Broadway cast of the musical "The Fantasticks"--as of 2021 the longest-running musical in theatrical history. Another original cast member in that production was Jerry Orbach, who long played Detective Lennie Briscoe on Law & Order.
