This episode is loosely based on the true-life story of Bobbie Parker, the wife of a deputy warden in Oklahoma, and convicted killer Randolph Dial. They lived as fugitives for ten years as husband and wife before being discovered.
The song Goren sings under his breath whilst undercover in front of Mitch's house is "Don't Bet Your Money On The Shanghai" by Nelson Eddy.
In Act 2 of this episode, Goren performs a hilarious little dance in the street--in a minimalist messenger (?) disguise--just before he scopes out a suspect's residence. Several seconds of that performance are now a GIF. [03.16.2020]
The false names used by Goren and Eames in the hospital (Dr. Stern and Dr. Borman) are based on criminal characters from an earlier episode, "Zoonotic (2003)."
