Kelly's presumably Orthodox conversion occurred prior to the birth of her elder child. Because Judaism is matrilineal, her children would have remained Jewish, even if she'd decided to baptize them.
A child conceived before marriage isn't a situation that would result in lasting disgrace--or, for that matter, more than some snickering--within most Orthodox Jewish communities.
