The "Wilhelm Scream" is heard when the first Indian falls from his horse after being shot. And then again
towards the end of the battle in the fort. The "Wilhelm Scream" is a sound effect first heard in the film " The
charge at Feather River". It is believed that the sound effect was first done by Sheb Wolley. It has since been
used in hundreds (maybe thousands) of movies and TV episodes. It was even
used in Star Wars and Indiana Jones films.
The flag at the fort had too many stars, the US Flag for the Gold Rush period (circa 1875) only had 37 stars.
For some unknown reason a voice over was done to portions of Stuart Randall's Red Wing dialogue. It was quite noticeable, not sounding like Randall at all, although it was done quite well, with the voice over words matching the lip movement of Stuart Randall perfectly.
When Running Horse tells one of his warriors to pull down the flag at the fort, the actor lowering the flag must have served in the military or scouts. Rather than letting go of the rope and let the flag fall, he properly holds the rope with one hand and slowly pulls the flag down with the other.
