In this James Garner's last episode we learn that the Mavericks had an Uncle Micah who must have been estranged from dear old pappy. Because he disapproved of their gambling ways he left them a stagecoach line a pretty
broken down one at that with a valuable right of way. They can't sell it but at
an enormous profit showing they have business sense. So they have to make
some short term money in order to sell it to rancher Peggy McCay who wants
it badly. So does executor Will Wright who's willing to do a lot to see he gets
the line.
It seems like the best friend James Garner and Jack Kelly have is road agent Buddy Ebsen in a really droll performance.
The ending is quite ironic because it turns out that everyone but the Maverick brothers and Ebsen know something they don't know. And Ebsen sees a great future for himself.
James Garner left the series because of a contract dispute with Warner Brothers but on the note of a great episode.
