After hunting beaver in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Bart takes it upon himself to clear an innocent man. It is a familiar theme. Bart trapped 147 beaver and needs a shave. It almost seems out of character that a Maverick would be trapping beaver. There is a subplot involving a young woman with a tyrannical father determined to keep her away from men. The girl's mother had a roving eye, and Annie is attracted to Bart. He reminds her of the age difference. In an attack of conscience, Annie confesses to Bart that she is evil, just like her mother. The plots converge when the fanatical father turns out to be the killer. This is early in the series, and Jack Kelly is introduced by James Garner.

Gambler's Honor
bkoganbing7 August 2018
This episode has Bart Maverick coming to the town of Bent Spur where the sheriff
Mike Connors is a might touchy about prisoner Ed Kemmer escaping just before
he was to hang. In fact Jack Kelly pretends to be a friend of the deceased when
in fact he's on a mission to find the real killer. Call it a gambler's honor paying off
a debt.
Including Connors this is a town rich in suspects. The deceased was quite the lady's man and he didn't care much about age or wedding rings. Among those he coveted was Kemmer's wife Fay Spain.
In the end the deceased's lust is what leads Kelly to the killer.
This one is more of a mystery than a western, still good stuff.
