Storyline

- TriviaWhen Monk is looking at the teacher mail slots, one of them is labeled Brooke Adams. In real life, she is Tony Shalhoub's wife.
- GoofsWhen Monk explains that the suicide letter could not have been written by an English teacher, he cites one reason being the incorrect use of "whomever" stating the letter reads "To whomever it may concern." He argues that the correct usage would be "to whoever it may concern." However, because the verb in the sentence (concern) is performed by the subject "it" coupled with the fact that the pronoun in question follows "to" means that the pronoun must be objective. "Whomever" is the objective form of the nominative pronoun "whoever" and so "whomever" actually is correct.

The Cost of Education
Being a long time teacher myself, it would seem that for the average person, keeping thirty kids' attention for an hour, five or six times a day would be daunting. I really sympathized with Mr. Monk. One thing that surprised me was the number of ding dong teachers in this supposedly upscale high school. I did enjoy the writing, however, and the solution to the murder.
