Miss Farnaby has an awful reputation in the county, she's sharp, prickly and a little vinegary, staff don't stay, her life is turned around when Mulberry turns up on the doorstep looking for a job, his aim to show her the good side of life.
Way ahead of its time, Mulberry is a truly unique and original comedy, this first episode is a joy, it sets the scene, introduces the characters, and gives us a couple of laughs.
It's curious, it's quirky, and what I love most of all, is it's a little dark, we would get to learn more about Mulberry's true purpose as time went on.
Geraldine McEwan, known to many as Miss Marple is utterly delightful as Miss Farnaby, lovely to see her doing comedy, not that she does much of it here, she's deliberately serious and acidic, the humour is left for Karl Bowman, who's gave been a big deal at the time, a capable comedy performer, and he's just great here.
Way ahead of its time.
9/10.
