Two Parties Are Not Better Than One
Greta's (Patricia Harty) parents have made a surprise weekend visit from Dayton. Mr. Patterson (Paul Hartman, "The Andy Griffith Show") and Mrs. Patterson (Pert Kelton- the original Alice Kramden on Jackie Gleason's "Cavalcade of Stars") are staying at a hotel around the corner from her apartment. When Peter (Michael Callan) pops in, she introduces him as the building's handyman. Her parents have brought along Arnie Stoner (stage actor Hal England), a boy she knew from junior high school who they plan to matchmake with Greta. To get rid of Arnie, Greta decides to pretend to be engaged to Peter. The move backfires as the Pattersons insists on throwing an engagement party that evening at The Plymouth Rock restaurant. Meanwhile, Peter and Greta are expected as a married couple at a dinner party by his boss Mr. Brahms (Jack Collins) who has arrived at Peter's apartment. Peter changes his boss' preferred venue to the Plymouth Rock, in a dining room beside the Patterson's party. They'll now have to balance the two dinners.
