Quarterback? Pass
Brooklyn Heights holds a pep rally for the upcoming football game against Eastern. A rousing speech by alumnus Gilbert Tugwell (Sorrell Booke, 'Boss Hogg' in "The Dukes of Hazard") is followed by the meek few words of shy star quarterback Myron 'Rock' Milankovitch (Daniel J. Travanti). Rock becomes entranced by Cathy and asks her to be his guest at the game. Cathy declines. Rock becomes depressed, affecting his performance at practice. Patty and Richard encourage Cathy to go out with Rock for the good of team spirit and the school's football success. The two begin dating, going to a museum with Cathy's cultural interests. To her surprise, Rock has a knowledge of sculptures, and once sculpted as a hobby. Cathy talks Rock into returning to his sculpting. His first work is a skillful bust of Cathy. Rock begins losing interest in football, however. Rock and Cathy face increased pressure and a nasty scheme of Patty's, but what matters most?
A good episode, but the resolution came a bit easy and without the lesson statement it could have made. It really felt to me as if they ran out of time and had to suddenly wrap it up.
