Rocky asks the little girl, Marin, who she trusts. She replies; Johnny Carson. One of Carson's early television jobs was as host of the game show Who Do You Trust? (1956).
Whilst Jim's making eggs for breakfast, Rocky says; 'do you know that she can do that hamburger commercial backwards - faster than the kid who does it backwards?' In the mid-70's, McDonald's first ran ads for the Big Mac, which listed (with accompanying jingle) all the ingredients (which were); '2 all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.' These spots were followed by another spot where a kid named all these ingredients in the reverse order 'sesame seed bun, onions, etc).
Even though this is the only episode Kim Richards guest starred in, she does appear in every episode (of the first 2-3 seasons); in the opening credits. There's a shot of Rockford - taken through shelves, and to his left, is a picture of Kim Richards and Trent Lehman, who had co-starred on Nanny and the Professor (1970) (also an NBC series), which had ended production about the time The Rockford Files (1974) began. The appearance of Ms. Richards and Mr. Lehman (it appears,to be a picture on either a game box, or 45 rpm) seems to be coincidental.
The title refers to the 'family hour' (aka family viewing hour), a policy established in 1975, by the (US) Federal Communications Commission, where each TV network had to air "family-friendly" programming during 1st hour of prime time lineup (8 to 9 p.m.).
The actor who played the character, Duffy, does not does not appear in the cast list. (Note: Duffy is played by Paul Koslo, who has a Guest Star credit, but his character is mysteriously listed here as Pittson (apparently "Duffy" is either his first name or a nickname).
