In the scene where Xena tells Gabrielle that pressing her wrist against sea-sickness numbs her taste buds and makes everything taste good, even what is not good for her, Gabrielle says "Like what... Raw squid!" but her lips say "Raw fish" instead. (you can even notice a small change in her voice, showing it is a voice-over) In a earlier scene Gabrielle eats raw squid, so this implies that this scene was filmed afterwards and was originally intended to show Gabrielle eating raw fish, not squid.
Cecrops was the first king of Athens in Greek mythology, and the arbiter of an advertising contest between Poseidon and Athena. (Many versions of this contest have Poseidon's entry be a horse.) The rest of the episode plot is not based on Cecrops' legend, but derives from the pirate legend of the Flying Dutchman, which is first attested in writing in 1790 but may date back to the 17th century.
