While on trial, Dr. Gilligan holds a lily, smells it, and recites poetry, a reference to Oscar Wilde, the flamboyant 19th Century Irish playwright and poet.
The title is the original name of the Agatha Christie novel that has also been filmed under the title 'Ten Little Indians'.
In the dream sequence, Gilligan portrays Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Mary Ann portrays Eliza Doolittle from Pygmalion/My Fair Lady, and Mrs. Howell portrays Mary Poppins.
Mrs. Howell's first appearance in this episode is when the professor is explaining there are head hunters on the island. She is wearing the same safari outfit she wore when searching for Captivora berries and then being captured by the head hunters in episode #3.10, "Topsy-Turvy."
