A number of great movies are leaving HBO Max at the end of March, so it’s time to prioritize these titles in your queue. Filmmaker James Gunn’s sequel/soft reboot “The Suicide Squad” will depart the streaming service on March 22 after first hitting HBO Max the same day it was released in theaters back in 2021. Similarly, “Space Jam: A New Legacy” was whisked away on March 1 after also getting a day-and-date release in 2021 (sorry/not sorry if you missed it).
You also only have until March 7 to stream “Just a Boy From Tupelo: Bringing Elvis to the Big Screen,” a short documentary on the making of the Oscar-nominated biopic “Elvis.”
Other noteworthy films leaving HBO Max this month include “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” “Contagion,” the extended version of “Dances with Wolves,” “Ghostbusters,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “Love & Basketball” and “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

There’s nothing quite like when HBO is airing one of its trademark watercooler-worthy dramas weekly. Thankfully, we’ll get to it experience exactly that and more on HBO Max in March 2023.
The big ticket item on HBO Max this March is undoubtedly Succession Season 4 on March 26. Part prestige drama and part screwball comedy, Succession is about as fun a watch as they come. Season 4 of the series about egregious wealth will find the Roy siblings reeling after trying and failing to take down their father, Logan (Brian Cox).
HBO Max’s other major TV option this month is another weekly release from HBO. Matthew Rhys returns as the titular lawyer in Perry Mason Season 2 on March 6. Season 1 of this period piece reboot flexed the classic TV character’s detective skills. From the look of the trailer, it seems as though this is the year Perry makes his name in the court room.

In what can be called movie geek comfort food, Battle: Los Angeles and Krull have become cult favorites over the years. Why? You can watch either movie while doing other things keeping an extra eye on the screen, have devout fans who can recite the dialogue verbatim and will defend both movies to the end. Guilty pleasures, yes, cult status, definitely.
Even HBO Max has it listed as such.
The 2011 sci-fi and 1982 fantasy films have come to HBO Max and are available to stream now.
“Marines don’t quit.”
Battle: Los Angeles, starring Aaron Eckhart, and from director Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath Of The Titans), is the exciting story of a squad of U.S. Marines who become the last line of defense against a global invasion. It gets the military right than most war movies. Numerous Marine units assisted in filming and the movie contains some awesome scenes with Black Hawks,...

April is about to be a good month for returning HBO and HBO Max properties.
HBO Max’s list of releases for April 2022 features three hotly anticipated seasons of television. The Flight Attendant, which helped launch HBO Max as a viable spot for good dramedy in 2020, premieres its second season on April 21. That will be followed by another go-around for the sci-fi comedy Made for Love on April 28. Of course, the big ticket item this month is something that HBO Max inherited from its cable cousin. Barry season 3 will continue the story of hitman-turned-actor Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) on April 24.
The TV offerings run much deeper than just returning shows this month. April 7 sees the arrival of Tokyo Vice, a sprawling crime drama with some episodes directed by Michael Mann. The series stars Ansel Elgort as an American journalist embedding himself in Tokyo’s criminal underground in the late ’90s.

The biggest triumph that director J.J. Abrams’ ("Star Trek," "Cloverfield") achieves with "Super 8" isn’t the special effects or the secretive plot; it's the fine group of child actors he's assembled. Not since "The Goonies" has an ensemble of misfits been so entertaining.
In "Super 8," six Midwestern kids witness a mysterious train crash in 1979 while making a zombie film, and strange things start happening. Cue the screams of voice-cracking adolescents. They laugh, they cry, they blow stuff up, they sing "My Sharona." Fun fact: The actors actually wrote and directed the film-within-a-film themselves, so don’t forget to stay for the credits.
Meet these child stars of "Super 8" and learn more about the characters they play -- in the J.J. Abrams movie and their homemade zombie film.

BERLIN -- Before the fireworks, there always has to be a long slow-burning fuse, but after a slow start for this year's European Film Market, the wheeling and dealing exploded with some high-profile deals.
A brace of deals lit up the market with GreeneStreet Films due to announce a North American rights deal to Gary the Tennis Coach, directed by Danny Leiner and starring Seann William Scott and Randy Quaid to Sony Pictures. A bawdy high school comedy details the life of a janitor turned tennis coach.
And titles appearing in Competition here are also shifting off the shelves with Mike Leigh's "Happy-Go-Lucky" expected to go to Miramax Films in the six-figure range for U.S. rights. Leigh himself described his latest movie as a light hearted comedy drama.
Elsewhere, Berlinale Competition entry "Quiet Chaos" (Caos Calmo), directed by Antonello Grimaldi, has spread to nine territories ahead of its official screening Wednesday.
While Leigh's buzz title "Lucky" attracted a flurry of U.S. interest before its gala screening Tuesday "Quiet Chaos" (Caos Calmo), also ahead of its official screening Wednesday, is being sold by the production company's own sales entity Fandango Portobello Sales headed by Janine Gold. Deals struck include France (BAC), Spain (Alta), Benelux (Cineart), Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Canada (Seville), Portugal (Midas), South Korea (Jin Jin), Brazil (Imovision) and Israel (Lev). "Chaos" is produced by Fandango's Domenico Procacci from a screenplay by Nanni Moretti, Lauro Paolucci and Francesca Piccolo. It is backed by RAI Cinema, Portobello Pictures and Phoenix Film Investment and details the story of a husband and father dealing with the immediate aftermath of the sudden death of his wife.

Paramount Vantage has greenlighted its first comedy under its deal with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Prods.: "The Goods: The Don Ready Story", starring Jeremy Piven and directed by Neal Brennan.
The project was brought to Gary Sanchez by Kevin Messick, who will produce with Ferrell, McKay and Sanchez's Chris Henchy.
Rick Stempson and Andy Stock wrote the script, which centers on a used-car liquidator hired to save a struggling dealership during a Fourth of July weekend sale. Messick said that the project was developed on spec with the writing pair. Production will begin in December in Los Angeles.
This is Stempson and Stock's second project. Their first, "Gary the Tennis Coach", recently was produced by GreeneStreet Films and stars Seann William Scott. The pair are repped by UTA and Karl Austen.

Ben Silverman's Reveille Llc., which is behind the television series Ugly Betty and The Office, is launching a feature film division arm named Reveille Motion Pictures and has inked a first-look deal with Universal Pictures.
The new company will create, acquire and develop a broad slate, and will lean on Reveille's proven modus operandi, which has been finding fresh commercial ideas to develop for American audiences. Betty and Office, for example, initially were television series in Colombia and England, respectively, before Reveille translated them for the U.S.
Graham Larson, who previously partnered with Seann William Scott at the actor's Universal-based Identity Films, will serve as vp at RMP. Larson's producing credits include The Last Samurai and Gary the Tennis Coach. He also worked with Edward Zwick at the Bedford Falls Co.
Silverman plans to use Reveille's methods of alternative financing in television and online to bring in Reveille's different financing, marketing and cross-platform partners to the intellectual property franchises it will be producing theatrically. For example, the company has made it a point to cast ethnically and internationally diverse actors to appeal to the global market.
On the digital side, the company's webisodes for Office were instrumental in broadening the show's appeal, and Silverman thinks there is a lot of potential for creative digital uses in the feature world.
