"The New Kid" closed out the abbreviated first season, a new arrival named Manuel Orlando (David Yanez) on the scene, who never appears in any future episodes. Fish isn't too thrilled to have another kid around ("tell 'em we don't need another child, tell 'em we need another bathroom!"). Found living in the back of a '57 Pontiac, the kid instantly clashes with Loomis, no longer the youngest or shortest, unhappy having to share a bed with Manuel. When Fish loses his watch, the kid quickly confesses, giving Loomis an idea on how to rid himself of the pesky newcomer. This first season finale was no better or worse than the previous 12, but the series was already renewed for a full second season (according to Todd Bridges, it would have continued to a third had Abe Vigoda not asked for a raise).
