Derrel Maury as Diane's first date
kevinolzak17 April 2014
"Anniversary" finds Bernice planning a weekend get together to celebrate her 38th wedding anniversary to Fish, who seems genuinely happy for a change. Diane is happy too, confessing she's in love with a guy from school, Edwin (Derrel Maury), despite his never having spoken to her. Insecure about her looks, Bernice assures Diane that her best feature is her smile. She does manage to get Edwin's attention at the library, but when he arrives to take her out, chooses to make advances on Jilly instead. Despite this, Diane still goes out with him, on the same night Fish was planning to leave with Bernice. Sarah Natoli gets to smile far more in this one, indulging in a little Barbra Streisand as a welcome surprise. Derrel Maury had just starred in his greatest role, in the cult classic "Massacre at Central High," but since then has continued in small roles on television.
