One decent rule about celebrities is that their public persona is often at odds with how they really are. For example, cuddly, wholesome and family-friendly types can turn out to have a sinister and manipulative side (*cough* Bill Cosby), while people with a scary and evil image are usually incredibly nice. Musician and director Rob Zombie is very much the latter.
The House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects and 3 From Hell director was recently praised by actor Kristina Klebe, who worked with him on the 2007 remake of Halloween. In an interview with HalloweenMovies.com, she shared two very touching experiences from the set, claiming that despite Zombie appearing intimidating, he’s a very easygoing director who pays attention to his cast:

I recently sat down with director Isabel Coixet, and actors Patricia Clarkson and Sarita Choudhury at the Crosby Hotel in New York City, to discuss their new film "Learning to Drive." The film, written by Sarah Kernochan, is based on the autobiographical New Yorker short story by Katha Pollit, a long-time political columnist for the Nation.
Wendy is a fiery Manhattan author whose husband has just left her for a younger woman; Darwan is a soft-spoken taxi driver from India on the verge of an arranged marriage. As Wendy sets out to reclaim her independence, she runs into a barrier common to many lifelong New Yorkers: she’s never learned to drive. When Wendy hires Darwan to teach her, her unraveling life and his calm restraint seem like an awkward fit. But as he shows her how to take control of the wheel, and she coaches him on how to impress a woman, their unlikely friendship awakens them to the joy, humor, and love in starting life anew.
My conversation began with Isabel Coixet and Sarita Choudhury
Isabel Coixet’s award-winning film credits include "Demaisiado viejo para morir joven," "Things I Never Told You,""My Life Without Me," "The Secret Life of Words," "Paris, je t’aime," "Elegy," "Map of the Sounds of Tokyo," "Yesterday Never Ends," "Another Me," "Nobody Wants the Night," as well as documentaries, including "Invisibles."
Currently, Sarita Choudhury can be seen on Showtime’s "Homeland." Her film credits include "Admission," "Gayby," "Midnight’s Children," "Generation Um…," "Entre Nos," "The Accidental Husband," "Lady in the Water," "The War Within," "Mississippi Masala," "Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love," "She Hate Me," "Just a Kiss," "Wild West," "High Art," "The House of the Spirits," "Gloria," and "A Perfect Murder."
Susan Kouguell: Tell me about the process of how "Learning to Drive" came about.
Isabel Coixet: We started talking about making this film with Patricia and Ben Kingsley when we were making "Elegy" (directed by Coixet, starring Clarkson and Kingsley) and we got along very well and we wanted to make another film together. Patricia discovered the short story by Katha Pollit, and she gave it to me and I thought it was wonderful. And then we got the screenwriter Sarah Kernocha involved. The film is a comedy but not a classical comedy. It was a very difficult film to pitch because you know financiers and producers want something they can put in one box and you can’t with this film. It was a long process. It took nine years.
Some Words Unspoken and the Intimacy of the Camera
Isabel Coixet: There is always this romantic feeling underneath [subtext], I think there is that possibility. You have to be true to your words. If they are true, you will have to stick to your words.
Sarita Choudhury: That’s what happens with people you meet. No you were my inspiration don’t make me your inspiration.
Isabel Coixet: I love Henry James. There is a possibility of romance in the air. My romantic side is always excited when I see something like this.
Sarita Choudhury: I had so few words in the film. In a way, I kept the words because I had to know not to say them. For us the script -- the situational was also in the script; the languidness. It was because Isabel holds the camera. There was a pace created to it. When you’re acting you can feel where the camera is, but when the camera is at the end of Isabel’s hand and she’s moving it, it almost creates an intimacy between you and the camera, and you and the actor. There’s a pace you normally don’t get in film. You didn’t know when she was on your face; you had to keep acting like acting in the theatre.
On The Lack of Women Directors
Isabel Coixet: There are so many articles about it. I’m always afraid to play the victim, to complain too much. I know there is an inequity with men and women directors. This is an issue in the world. I always say, (Coixet smiles) we have to ask for more salary to make up for all these years and maybe if we ask for more they’ll give us the same as a man.
I want to put my words where my mouth is by producing female directors; they are amazing talented people. I’m producing three short films and a feature documentary. That’s what I do.
Sarita Choudhury: I just did a young woman’s short film; there is something about her that’s brilliant. I’ve done two short films. I can’t change the caste system and I can’t do the voluntary work I need to be doing. Film is no different from the world, like Isabel said. That’s our work, to get every woman involved. And if a man is brilliant, let him in too.
I then asked Patricia Clarkson about her involvement with "Learning to Drive."
Academy Award® nominee and Emmy Award-winning actress, Patricia Clarkson, has worked extensively in independent films. The National Board of Review and the National Society of Film Critics named her Best Supporting Actress of the Year for "Pieces of April" and "The Station Agent." Her many film credits include "The Maze Runner," "Last Weekend," "Friends With Benefits," "One Day," "Easy A," "Shutter Island," "Vicky Christina Barcelona," "Elegy," "No Reservations," "All the Kings’ Men," "Lars and the Real Girl, and "Good Night, and Good Luck."
Susan Kouguell: What attracted you to the project?
Patricia Clarkson: I loved the Katha Pollit story in The New Yorker; it serendipitously came to me. I love Wendy, I love this character. I was nine years younger at the time, but I still felt I knew her. I was relentless trying to get this film made with producer Dana Friedman. I found it an equal dose of funny and tragic. I liked the almost commedia dell'arte aspect; this absurd situation and finding the tragic comedy. A woman who is brilliant who lives a great life -- she has everything, but “forgets to look up,” and then meets a man who has experienced tragic loss. They have disparate worlds. I found it a quintessential New York story, but it’s also universal. It’s an independent film, but it’s not independently-minded.
Some Final Words
The disparate worlds about which Clarkson refers to in regard to her character, Wendy’s relationship with Darwan [Ben Kingsley] -- the life of a financially successful New Yorker compared to the immigrant’s struggle, was a thematic element that I further discussed with Coixet and Choudhury. As Choudhury said to me, Coixet’s visual choices of her character, such as the moment when she watches feet walk by her basement apartment window, feeling trapped, underscore the poignancy of this fish-out-of-water situation. Coixet captures these elements with a delicate balance of both drama and comedy.
It was an inspiring morning to speak with these three powerful and talented women, who are committed to sharing their knowledge with the next generation of female filmmakers.

You wouldn’t think a show like “Supernatural” would have anything in common with “Grey’s Anatomy” or “Weeds”. After all, they’re wildly different genres on different networks. Each of these shows did do one thing the same. Every single one of them killed a character played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
He’s the dad they love to kill, or, at least that’s what happened to both John Winchester and Judah Botwin. Even as a single guy with a thing for Scrabble, he didn’t fare so well, just ask Denny Duquette. Oh, wait. You can’t. They killed him, too. He became, for all intents and purposes, the best and most memorable Red Shirt on TV.
Foolishly, I thought maybe movies would make a difference. “Watchmen” and “Jonah Hex” both proved me wrong. He did stay alive through “Peace, Love, and Misunderstanding”, “Taking Woodstock,” “The Losers,” “P.S. I Love You...

On March 31st this year, I had big plans, even though I didn’t have any intention of leaving the house. I got up pretty early, especially for a weekend and immediately turned on my computer and got on the internet. Why? Because the Starz network was offering a free preview of the first three episodes of Magic City and I was bound and determined that I was going to watch it.
By this point in time, it shouldn’t be any surprise that when I geek out over an actor, I geek out over them pretty hard-core. I do my best to keep up with their careers and to watch whatever it is that they’re in to support what they’re doing. Any given fandom is going to have the people that know everything about everything and, I’m afraid, sometimes I do fall into that category. Not...

Any given fandom is going to have the people that know everything about everything and, I’m afraid, sometimes I do fall into that category. Not...

NBC has landed Uma Thurman for a key arc on the midseason musical drama "Smash." The network announced on Thursday (December 8) that Thurman has signed on for a five-episode "Smash" arc, playing a famous and notoriously difficult movie star who circles the Marilyn Monroe bio-musical at the show's center. An Oscar nominee for "Pulp Fiction" and a Golden Globe winner for HBO's "Hysterical Blindness," Thurman is a newcomer when it comes to series television. Her recent feature credits include "Motherhood," "The Accidental Husband" and the upcoming "Bel Ami," opposite Robert Pattinson. "Smash," on of NBC's major spring...

The bigger the film, the more likely you are to see the appearance of a fake poster or trailer. We take a closer look at a growing modern phenomenon…
Even as I type these words, Hollywood’s marketing wizards are busily at work. While the respective directors of The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises are hard at work on the production of the films themselves, there’s another group of people sitting in an office somewhere coming up with the myriad posters, banners, trailers and TV spots that will promote them.
In the case of X-Men: First Class, out in UK cinemas on the 1st of June, its initial build-up campaign of artwork and character images is almost at an end. In its place, the marketing hype for The Dark Knight Rises has just clicked into gear, with a viral campaign kicked off last Friday with strange chanting noises on a website,...

Subject: Colin Firth, 50-year old English actor
Date of Assessment: March 30, 2011
Positive Buzzwords: Underrated, mainstream
Negative Buzzwords: Stiff, posh, bore
The Case: The good news, as accurately declared by Colin Firth in his recent (Best Actor) Oscar acceptance speech, is that his career really has just peaked. The bad news, however, is that in the event of a career peak, a downward slide might be inevitable. In the best case scenario, it is entirely possible Firth could parlay his Oscar win into more exposure for the sorts of roles that he's played before and for which he hasn't yet received proper recognition.
Most of us know Firth as the quintessential Englishman and for good reason. He's quite notorious for his straight-out-of-the-novel portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the six-episode miniseries Pride and Prejudice, in which he performed the classic Regency version of a one-man wet t-shirt contest. Indeed, there's something strange...

The King's Speech continues to bask in Oscars glory, with a huge surge of interest in the film and in all previous titles featuring Best Actor award winner Colin Firth.
The historical drama, which won four Oscars, has experienced a 281 per cent increase in rental pre-orders and is predicted to become the biggest rental title of 2011.
There has also been a major boost for Firth's earlier releases, including a rise of more than 1000 per cent in viewers watching 2008's The Accidental Husband via online streaming.

In recent years it's been nearly impossible to trust Uma Thurman movies. Sure, she was fantastic in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill movies, but the rest of her filmography in the time since - which includes winners like My Super Ex-Girlfriend, The Accidental Husband, and Motherhood - haven't exactly left audiences climbing over each other to see her next film (none of the eight films starring Thurman released since 2004 have attained a 'Fresh' rating on Rotten Tomatoes). What's unfortunate is that she is an incredibly talented actress that, seemingly, just hasn't seen a good script in a while. Here's hoping this next project can turn it around. Variety reports that Thurman and Jessica Biel have joined Gabriele Muccino's comedy Playing The Field. The film stars Gerard Butler as a former professional soccer player who decides to coach his son's team in order to better bond with him. At the...

Exclusive: The London-based production company is turning Shari Low’s bestselling chick-lit novel A Brand New Me into a romantic comedy. Mimi Hare and Clare Naylor, screenwriters of The Accidental Husband, are adapting the screenplay. Hare and Naylor have written a couple of chick-Lit novels themselves, The Second Assistant and The First Assistant. The deal is something of a family affair for Curtis Brown: Low is represented by Sheila Cowley, while Tally Garner negotiated Hare and Naylor’s deal with Universal Pictures.

Craig here, asking you all (on her 40th birthday): where is Uma at?
Ah, Uma. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. And despite actually being Tarantino's Bride twice last decade. What is it about Uma? She's widely known and adored by many, yet never seems to (quite) make it to the top of the A-list. The likes of Helen Hunt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Renée Zellweger, Jennifer Connelly, Angelina Jolie and Hilary Swank - all peers and contemporaries - have bagged themselves Oscars in the last thirteen-or-so years. The simple question is: where's Uma's gold?
She's one of the most uniquely beautiful actresses working, but nowadays, more so than in the early '90s, she doesn't often tend to get the recognition come awards season, or even appear on any of those Sexiest Hollywood Stars lists that crop up year-on-year anymore (although, is this really a fair...

About a year ago I talked with Watchmen's The Comedian, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who despite some appearances in an occasional rom-com (e.g. The Accidental Husband), I've recently come to really love as an actor. It was my honor to catch up with Morgan again to talk about The Losers, a new comic book movie where he plays another badass character - Clay, the leader and Operational Control of the ex-cia team The Losers. Our conversation ranges from his career to how awesome it was to shoot this movie and much more. I always love talking with Morgan, he's a great guy to interview and a genuinely nice person as well. Enjoy! Watch our complete interview with The Losers star Jeffrey Dean Morgan: This interview was shot using my Flip Mino camera, so expect a little graininess to the video and soft audio. Michael Mosley plays Jim in a new Off-Broadway production of "The Glass Menagerie." As the actor describes the iconic gentleman caller, "He has huge heart but not much between his ears. He really thinks he is helping Laura, but he's way off and ends up doing the worst possible thing, compounding an already difficult situation." After all, Mosley says, Jim is in no position to see her again. "I'd like to think that when Jim leaves their home he's learned something: that in the future he'd better shut up and check his impulses." Mosley was determined not to allow Jim to become a prop, which can easily happen; he envisions Jim as a disappointed man, despite his cocky style. And, as much as Jim has affected Laura, she has elicited troubling feelings in him that he can't quite define. "He says to her at one point, 'You make me feel sort of…...

"The Losers" is supposed to be Jeffrey Dean Morgan's coming out party on the big screen. Sure, the former "Grey's Anatomy" star played the Comedian in "Watchmen" and sparred with Uma Thurman in the barely seen romantic comedy "The Accidental Husband," but "Losers" should be the one action flick that at least gets Morgan a slew of leading roles, right? That was certainly the thinking seven months ago as a select number of journalists visited the set in Puerto Rico. Based on the comic book series of the same name, Morgan describes his bad ass character Clay as "a Cornell of...

A great movie poster can, clearly, really help sell a movie. But there's still a list of things that should never, ever find their way to the final version...
The art of the movie poster is a delicate one. Get the right poster, and you bring in the casual moviegoer, catch the eye and even get people wanting to buy it and put it on their walls. Get it wrong, and it can cost you hard cash at the box office.
For, whether you like it or not, the poster is the key deciding factor for many cinemagoers when choosing what to see at their local multiplex. And it got us thinking: what are the things that people put on their posters that serve no logical purpose whatsoever? What are, frankly, the most redundant things your poster can say?
Here are our top 10 choices..

Words that Uma Thurman has rekindled romance with her ex-fiance Arpad Busson after calling off their engagement in late 2009 could be true after all. On Tuesday, January 19, the star of "Kill Bill" has been seen sharing a passionate lip-lock with the Swiss multimillionaire on a park bench in New York City.
The public display of affection between the two didn't stop only with the smooch though. Gossip Center, which also provides photos of the PDAs, went further to report that the Emma Lloyd of "The Accidental Husband" and her man continued to canoodle as they made their way around the streets of the Big Apple.
Having been engaged to Arpad Busson for around one-and-a-half year, Uma Thurman was reported to be back on the single market in early December 2009. At the time, she was said to have separated from the Swiss financier for almost two months and was planning to...

Not much in the way of new DVD releases this week unless you're a Pixar fan, but then hey... who isn't a Pixar fan? Up is by far the biggest release of the week (so big that no one really wanted to go up against it) and I fully expect to hear reports of it breaking Blu-ray sales records at some point in the near future. Cars and Monsters, Inc. are also out on Blu-ray this week, along with both Heat and Red Heat. (That's called synergy.) Other new discs include The Ugly Truth starring Gerard Butler and Katherin Heigl, Spread starring Ashton Kutcher, and the 2008 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner Ballast. What will you be renting or buying this week? Up [1] (DVD, Blu-ray [2]) The Ugly Truth [3] (DVD, Blu-ray [4]) Ballast [5] In The Loop [6] (Canada only) Spread [7] (DVD, Blu-ray [8]) Ink [9] The Echo [10] (DVD, Blu-ray [11]) American Virgin [12] Summer's Moon [13] The Accidental Husband [14] The Merry Gentleman [15] Mamma Mia!

If there is one disc sure to fly off shelves this week, it's this one. The Pixar film made instant fans out of most viewers, and agonizingly ripped the rest of our hearts out with the love story opening. Up I just reviewed the Blu-ray version of this release and may I just say it is worth every penny. Pixar films look phenomenal in high-definition and the word "flawless" is by no means a stretch. Along with my review I have also included a clip from the new animated short "Dug's Special Mission," so just click here for the video and full review details.
Oh, and if you want to buy it in store you can get a $10 off coupon right here. Monsters, Inc. Yup, it's Pixar week on Blu-ray as Monsters, Inc. joins Up as well as a gift pack version of Cars and this one too manages to impress greatly. There are a few new features, which I detailed in my review and I also included a sneak peek at the new roundtable feature in my review right here.

Tom Ford is a stylish man who's been around a lot more naked women than I have. I'd cry foul, but he's also been around a lot more naked men so instead I'll just call it even. He's been near the top of the fashion world for years, but now he looks to be expanding his resume by directing and co-writing a film. A Single Man has already received quite a bit of acclaim from showings at various festivals and has finally had it's first trailer released. The film stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode (Watchmen, The Lookout), Ginnifer Goodwin ("Big Love", "Ed"), and Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy, "Skins"). Check it out below. The trailer doesn't give away much (or anything really) about the plot, but it looks absolutely stunning doesn't it? It shouldn't come as a surprise since Ford's other career involves his keen eye for fashion and beauty, but...

The star of "The Accidental Husband" also revealed that she has talked with director Quentin Tarantino about the third film. "We did chat, we did chat," she said. "He has not yet finished the script. I don't even really know if he's really started it, although I got a taste of some of his ideas and they are really good." She didn't spill any details on "Kill Bill 3" though, saying "I can't tell you! I'm sorry!"

As director Zack Snyder tries to stay true to the comic book, "Watchmen" will include the raping scene of Minutemen member Silk Spectre by her teammate, The Comedian. Talking about his experience filming the scene and the adjustment done to bring the particular scene to life, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the actor who plays The Comedian, opened up to MTV.
Describing the filming process as the hardest days of shooting, the co-star of Uma Thurman in "The Accidental Husband" recalled, "It was a three-day process shooting that particular scene, and it was hard." He continued adding, "It was three of the hardest days of filming I have ever had to do. It was really very violent."
On bringing the sequence from the comic to the big screen, the 42-year-old explained what needed to be done. "When you're looking at the comic book you only get a couple panels so there is...

With the R-rated comedy becoming one of the hottest trends of the past couple years (thanks, in part, to a dude named Judd Apatow), we're starting to see a bunch more creative, down-to-earth (albeit foul-mouthed) comedies hit theaters -- with some, like Tropic Thunder, Burn After Reading and Knocked Up, fighting for awards consideration. But what will 2009 bring? Are we on a similar path as both 2007 and 2008, or will the new year bring back the boring, familiar plot threads and idiotic characters? Here's what we're looking at:
*Film(s) to watch that month
++Apatow involvement
# Best comedy of the year
January: Bride Wars, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, New in Town (Grade: C-)
February: *++Fanboys, He's Just Not That Into You, Pink Panther 2, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Miss February, Fired Up, *Youth in Revolt (Grade: B)
March: All About Steve, *I Love You, Man, This Side of the Truth, The Accidental Husband,...

Coming up on the new year, it's interesting to see which films we had thought would've been released by this point. In the summer of 2007, I recall myself and several colleagues showing up for a press screening of Jonathan Levine's lauded slasher, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, only to discover it was canceled just that morning and the film had been sold from the Weinstein Company to Senator that afternoon. (The film has since landed at Sony, whose indie arm, Sony Classics, already saw Levine's follow-up, The Wackness, to a proper theatrical reception.)
At least the Weinsteins gave something up for a change. The oft-shuffled Killshot and Fanboys are tentative January and February releases at the moment, respectively, and I just want to see for myself if The Poughkeepsie Tapes has been worthy of its modest reputation following a Bnat '07 screening -- the same Bnat that featured...

French filmmaker Pascal Laugier is assembling a Hollywood career with scary efficiency.
Laugier, who freaked out audiences this year at the Cannes and Toronto festivals with "Martyrs," his exercise in existential horror, will write and direct the supernatural thriller "Details" for Paramount Vantage.
Jason Blum and Steven Schneider of Blumhouse Prods. ("The Accidental Husband") and Ian Levy are attached as producers.
Two years ago, Vantage purchased Dan Kay's screenplay about a daughter who disappears after stirring up dark forces and the father obsessed with finding her. The original idea, which Laugier will script, is based on a short story by British fantasy writer China Mieville.
Icm signed Laugier after "Martyrs" polarized audiences in Toronto with its violence and psychological torture. The film quickly helped to score him the job of writing and directing a remake of Clive Barker's "Hellraiser" for Dimension Films.

- It's a great time to be filming in NYC, espeically with the film production friendly increase in tax incentives and this May, Variety reports that director Katherine Dieckmann (Diggers) will translate her urban comedy script onto the bigscreen with Uma Thurman in the lead role. Motherhood is the day in a life of a mother of two who is prepping for her daughter’s sixth birthday party as myriad urban challenges confront her. Minnie Driver and Anothony Edwards will play Thurman’s best friend and husband. The script makes ample use of the city, there are a slew of memorable, stand out moments and in the end projects itself as a sincere portrait of a mother whose literally got her hands full. Thurman is a top notch player for the part - as a young mother herself. She feels right for the role which with real NYC lingo should
