An episode whose sole function seems to be to make the audience cry, a task that it accomplishes quite well.Flynn gets a chance to spend time with Cassie, Alf and Ric before he dies and all of them come away enriched by the experience despite how upsetting it is.Leah, unfortunately, is only given about two lines and might as well not be in the episode, except that it's almost unthinkable she wouldn't be there for Sally.Cassie once again comes across as somewhat intolerant, unable to accept Ric's point of view whilst Alf helps him realise that those last few moments are his gift to Flynn.
Of course, it's to Flynn and Sally, and to Joel McIlroy and Kate Ritchie, that the episode truly belongs and to that beautiful moment where after putting on a brave face for the others Sally stands on the stairs, completely dejected, the yellow light making her look almost as sickly as Flynn. The ending is brilliant, as Flynn dies while Sally declares her love and downstairs everyone just suddenly knows. And some fantastic continuity as we realise the song Sally plays Flynn is the same one he played her after their wedding.Breathtaking.
