The end credits mention a Peter Postlethwaite but whoever this Peter was it was not the distinctive late actor from Jurassic Park 2 and Inception.
It is a hot summer, our trio are ordering still lemonade with ice rather than tea. However Nora Batty is distraught, her brother Billy in Australia is terminally ill and wishes to experience one last British Christmas. Nora never liked her Billy, it seems if there was a divorce for adultery in town, Billy was always the other party.
Foggy decides to decorate the cafe in summer with Christmas decoration which means Sid stealing a Christmas tree from the forest so they take photos of Nora and Wally and send them to her brother.
A nice nod back to the hot summer of 1976 and the trend of families having a sibling who has gone abroad which was getting more common. I recall when actress Kathy Staff died, they also sent her character over to Australia in order to look after a family member, so this episode would play an important plot point many years later.
The most startling image is Sid and Ivy having a passionate kiss in the cafe. Sid testing an idea whether women become more passionate when the weather is warmer. At least it showed that beneath this bickering couple were hidden passions.
