Second Rate Artistes In Lacklustre Revue
This is a quota quickie made by Fox at their Wembley studios. It is essentially a revue without a plot.It is introduced by Clapham and Dwyer. This double act was one of the most popular on radio in the 30s but it is difficult to see why.Not once did they raise a laugh from me.There is a big band with a specialty dancer and female vocalist. The best of a second rate bunch were The Wiere Brothers. They reprise their acrobatic music and clowning which were seen in the occasional Hollywood musical. The rest are singers ,dancers and acrobats.Whilst the settings are rather better than they would be if this were made by a British company it is of course what is going on in front of the settings that should catch the eye. This they singularly fail to do.
