- Naima starts using the launderette with Saeed's blessing and Saeed decides to experience some real 'cockney' living. Lofty's money worries look set to worsen. Ethel babysits for Mary with frightening results.
- Ethel is recovering from her ordeal of the day before, but Willy is still very shaky so she is pushing him around in a cart.
Naima insists on using the launderette to do Saeed's washing but he doesn't object. She ends up having a cup of tea and a chat with Pauline which leads to her expressing her dissatisfaction with her marriage to Saeed. When she gets back to the shop she tells Saeed that he is dull and weak. He takes some money from the till, telling her "I'm a man", and heads to The Vic for his first ever drink. He ends up getting blind drunk and annoying everyone at The Vic. Lofty has to go and get Naima and they both have to help him home.
Den tells Lofty that he either goes on the books or loses his job at The Vic.
Ethel tries to sell The Golden Circle to Dr Legg and he actually buys it - but then tears it up. Ethel tells him that she has to give Lofty the 20 pounds because she owes him for the Golden Circle, so Dr Legg tells her that he will get the money to him. When Dr Legg later sends for Lofty he gets out the 20 pounds but ends up keeping it on account of the back rent that Lofty owes him.
Ethel takes Debbie's advice and goes around to see Mary. She takes an ad with her for hiring sewing machines and talks Mary into letting her babysit Annie while Mary goes to see about it. She tells Mary that she wont take her outside.
Den tells Jan that he will go on the holiday with her.
Ian was asked to bake a cake for the school and present it after the ceremony for the opening of the new science lab. Kathy is proud of him over it but Pete keeps teasing Ian about it. Pete doesn't think cooking is a mans job and Kath and Pete argue over it.
Mary arrives back home but Ethel and Annie are nowhere to be found.
